Had a really good few days at Coachmans Cottage, a big thanks to Susan for helping us. On the downside the cottage could really do with some modernisation although it is really comfortable and cosy, it's just dated. The fact that the property is up for sale might have something to do with it, a sales board went up and we even had a couple knock to have a look around when we were on our way out for the day.....not something you want when you're on holiday. This didn't spoil our stay and we would stay again, if the new owners keep it as a holiday cottage though.

This is our second visit; we love the cottage and really enjoy the location. We found some really good places to eat. Our only slight dislike is the shower!

We can't say a lot about our stay as within forty-five minutes of us arriving in Bedminster I slipped and broke my ankle in two places, and was in hospital for three days. From what I saw it was nice and comfy, and very handy for the shops.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for you comments. So sorry to have heard that your stay was brief (cut short by the fall at your daughters' house). Hopefully you will be able to visit again when you are fully recovered. Speedy recovery wishes to you.

Road very noisy and garden very untidy so couldn't sit out in it. Sofas uncomfortable and back door hard to lock. Beds were comfy but cottage not like we thought we had booked. Area very good for exploring places.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for commenting. Since your visit, the outside seating area has been increased by clearing a large tree and shrubs. The back door has been shaved; however as with all wooden doors these do swell dependent on the weather. The sofas are M&S quality and have received positive comments previously. All comments are taken seriously and are acted upon where possible, we do appreciate them. Best wishes.

The main reason why we would not stay here again is that we seldom return to the same place - there are too many other places yet to be seen. We found the cottage very dark in the lounge, and the settees were too soft and too low for comfort. The shower would have been easier to use with a curtain instead of a fixed screen. The bed was very comfortable. The location was ideal for us - within easy reach of both coast and countryside. Excellent local shops, and off-road parking was a bonus.

The cottage needs some TLC to justify the price of the booking. The garden is very overgrown leaving no area to sit outside, and does not reflect the photo shown of the outside. The living area is dark and depressing and I think some added light was used on the advert photos. There was a very musty smell and I did find some slug trails on the living room carpet. We had a terrible time with the boiler cutting out and I hope this has been addressed for future ocuupants.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for commenting. Due to the popularity of the cottage, the improvements had been scheduled at the earliest available time. Since your visit these include new carpets on stairs, landing and bedrooms and repainting work. Outside the seating area has been increase by clearing a large tree and shrubs. British Gas have been addressed due to the service supplied regarding the boiler. Cottages4you took all photographs and no extra lighting was used. There have been no previous comments regarding smell/slugs but all comments are acted upon and will be highlighted to the caretaker.
