A visit during this time is highly recommended. The property is well located for walking, close to the Herefordshire Trail, Offa’s Dyke, Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons. Shops and pubs 1 ½ miles.

The cottage was extremely comfortable and well equipped and we spent a very peaceful and enjoyable week there. The owners were discrete but available when required, they also supplied us with lots of information about the surrounding area. The cottage is well positioned to gives easy access to Herefordshire and the Welsh border region. Given its location it would benefit from the availability of wifi.

For visiting the Hay Festival, which is why we were there, it was superb. A warm welcome and very peaceful with views over the abbey and lots of walks for the evenings. We'll certainly be back..

Coach House is peacefully located beside Dore Abbey with lovely views of the valley from the lounge upstairs; its a good place for a relaxing break. The owners who live next door are not intrusive, they made us welcome and gave us a delicious home baked coffee cake. The house was comfortable & clean & we had no problems parking one large family car outside. It was cold when we visited and although the central heating kept the house cosy upstairs the log stove probably needs to be lit downstairs to keep the whole house warm. It is a pity there is no internet connection as we had difficulties getting a mobile signal in the area. By car Abbey Dore is conveniently situated for exploring the towns of Hereford and Abergavenny. There is a lovely drive over to Hay on Wye, which gave us views of the snowy Brecon Beacons. There is a post office store nearby in Ewyas Harold which sells local produce but sadly the fish and chip shop was closed; the nearest large supermarket is on the outskirts of Hereford.
