Welsh Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above..

Set in a quiet location, yet only ¼ mile from a beach, this property has plenty of scenic walks from the door.

This stone-built holiday property, adjacent to the owners’ home, has been finished to a very good standard and features lots beams which add character. There is a lovely large living room (try and find the carved mouse in the wooden beam!) and an outside seating area for dining al fresco. The property is situated in the quiet village of Trefor and is only a short distance from the beach. There are plenty of walks from the door, and it makes a great base for exploring the beautiful Llyn Peninsula, with its many winding lanes, rocky coves and sandy beaches. Porthdinllaen, home of the famous Ty Coch Inn right on the beach, is a great place to visit, as is the lovely National Trust property of Plas Yn Rhiw, the home of the Keating sisters. The market town of Pwllheli is within easy reach, whilst in the other direction is Caernarfon, with its mighty Edward I castle where the Prince Charles was invested as Prince of Wales. It is also home to the Welsh Highland Railway, with steam trains to pretty Beddgelert and coastal Porthmadog. The bustling town of Porthmadog has a selection of individual shops and restaurants, or visit the Maritime Museum. The unique Italianate village of Portmeirion is also worth a visit. For family fun, visit Greenwood Forest Park or Glasfryn Activity Parc, which has go karting, wakeboarding, quad biking, bowling and a play area. For the more active, there are many activities available in the local area, including golf, sailing, windsurfing, waterskiing, rock climbing, horse riding, canoeing and fishing. Beach ¼ mile. Shop and pub ½ mile.

Beamed living room with wood-burning stove and wooden floor. Beamed kitchen with gas/electric range (for cooking), breakfast area and tiled floor. Separate toilet. Nice place, friendly landlady. The view of the Irish sea is great, but the beach itself is OK. The oven was not clean at all. Had to work hard on it before we could use it. The Internet didn't work at all - the whole week!! That was a shame. Super location to explore Snowdonia! The kitchen is huge - a pleasure to cook on the big gas cooker with six flames.

Excellent cottage. Very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Good facilities (washer, tumble dryer dishwasher), too. Owners living next door was a real bonus as we had a significant water leak one night and the owner came within minutes and solved the problem there and then which was excellent. Only minor thing - could do with more clothes pegs for the washing line outside and some scissors for the Kitchen. Also we noted just how very clean everything was. I would highly recommend and we will very likely come back again. Thank you.

We had a lovely week staying in this cottage. There were 3 adults, 4 children and a dog - and there was plenty of room. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you need and a great outdoor space too. Whilst in a very small village we loved it being a 5 minute walk to the tiny beach where the kids went crabbing and paddling in the sea. We had days out to Abersoch, Pwhelli and climbed Snowdon and went on the longest zip wire in Europe! Everything is, at most, an hours drive away. The owners live next door but apart from coming to meet us as we arrived, we didn't hear or see them for the duration - although she did make it clear we could knock on if we needed anything. We ordered an online Asda grocery shop to arrive an hour after we got there - I would highly recommend this! Lovely cottage and location :)

We had a truly lovely Christmas break. The tree and decorations made the cottage so welcoming, the well equipped and spacious kitchen was great for cooking Christmas dinner and the bedrooms were very comfortable. The location was quiet but beautiful and the coastal path was really lovely too! We had a fantastic break and would certainly recommend the cottage which is spacious and had everything we needed.
