The cottage and garden are ideal for a family, especially with a dog. For the money paid there are a couple of upgrades that I would like to see. 1. It desperately needs a new larder fridge in the kitchen - no freezer compartment needed as there is an adequate freezer. The current freezer compartment door is missing and so it drips water. The main door does not close completely. 2. It needs an electric shower over the bath, otherwise everyone ends up using the en-suite. The toilet in that bathroom does not flush very well. These are actually facts that we stated when we rented the property some years ago from different landlords.

Unfortunately we had a bad time at Cleveland villas. A serious damp problem was present in the bunk room, rendering it uninhabitable. Compensation was given by the owner but it really didn't make up for it. In addition the kitchen was not very clean, and we mostly had to wash things before use. The house had dirty cobwebs around the place, giving the impression of lack of care and attention to detail. We paid a lot of money for the house in peak season; at that price level we were surprised not to find any hand soap in the bathrooms or washing up liquid. Such things we'd would not expect to have to bring at that price level. Overall this seemed not like a professional holiday let but more like a private owner doing a bit of letting. We have rented many properties over the years and never been this disappointed. We would not go there again.

Response on behalf of the Owner; I'm sorry to hear your stay didn't go as well as you would have liked. That is not the experience for my guests I aim for, as evidenced by all of the other comments and ratings. The horrible weather at the time, combined with a blocked gutter, meant we had a leak which was immediately fixed. Your comments regarding the cleaning have been fully taken on board and addressed with the housekeeper.

Superb house with very a good location to a nice quiet Devon village. Not busy like surrounding areas. Pictures do not do the property justice.

Lovely house fully equipped. Nice decoration and lovely touches. A welcome pack of tea coffee, milk and biccies would have been good.
