Our main reason for booking this cottage over others in the area was the swimming pool. This was great and gave us plenty of entertainment in the long dark winter afternoons / evenings. The games room could do with a refresh (no cue ball for pool, ping pong bats falling apart), but the ping pong was fun and some in our party even played tennis one afternoon. The cottage was very cosy. We could have done with the crockery being in a cupboard lower down that the kids and smaller adults to reach easily. And a washing up brush would have been useful when washing pots & pans and items that I didn't put in the dishwasher. The washing machine could do with updating. There's only one cycle with a choice of temperature, so I ended up with a mixed load of cottons & synthetics on a coolish wash, which wasn't great and didn't get everything clean.

Just back from our stay in Cooke Cottage. Great location just off the main York to Malton road. Very quiet but nowhere within walking distance really. Great sized cottage and very good facilities (kids loved the pool) and the garden room was nice and relaxing. Would recommend and stay again.

Enjoyed the week. Pool is very nice, cottages are exceptionally warm. Be nice of the Pool table and table football were free or cheaper. Some issues with the site - the fake-tiled pool sides were coming away from the cement and some of the interior window frames were falling down. Also, huge pot holes along the main driveway were difficult to avoid and could, if hit, cause significant car damage. however, the place just needs some TLC to make it a wonderful venue and we would go back there again.
