On arrival travel cot was not in cottage. First cot provided was mouldy and had dead insects in. A clean replacement was provided but no mattress or linen (contrary to booking info). There were several stair gates at the property, all broken. A replacement was provided but required drilling in to wall to fit, which we obviously couldn’t do. Cottage was dirty.

The comfortable Barn and Garden make it an ideal let for families with small children. The bed in the upstairs double room is in dire need of a new matress, sunken in the sleeping area left hard raised edges, most uncomfortable. The assortment of wine glasses needs looking at, our wine with dinner was spoiled by having to use inappropriate glasses. Renters should be made totally aware of the need to take towels, tea towels, dishcloths, toilet rolls and loo cleaner, only made aware of towels and tea towels, a visit to the local shop had to be made on day of arrival. Other cottages/barns we have rented in the past five years have supplied everything and are wonderfully equipped, Cider Barn would benefit greatly were it to offer such amenities, a raise in the rental cost would perhaps cover the expense. Cider Barn really does need a review of the facilities.

The Cider Barn was well placed to both enjoy the Weston area, pop down the road to facilities in Worle and retreat to. In a very hot week we made much use of the garden. The barn is characterful in it's layout though there was a lack of shade and the ground floor bedroom would benefit from more ventilation rather than just the french doors. We could not use the well used BBQ provided but it was useful to put a disposable BBQ on.

Basic things such as Handwash, sponge for washing in the kitchen are not provided. The owner said that this is a self-catering house, so these are not provided, which is a bit strange.

Bit disappointed this time at the cider barn. Bathroom bulb had gone and lamp in small room, no bulbs to replace. Doors in lounge sealed with black tape and fuse kept blowing and cooker not working properly. Would still visit again though if the problems were fixed.

Beware! This property is in need of a thorough refurbishment to deal with dampness, mould and the general overall appearance! The kitchen and white goods were disgusting! The owner should be made to take notice of previously posted reviews as to the state of general decoration throughout, or what is the point of these reviews. We received no response from the owner or an apology. Many photographs were sent to enhance our complaint as evidence. Cottages.com were exemplary in the way that they dealt with our complaint and offered remuneration, which was accepted. This was a rather upsetting few days, as we have never complained in the past over any accommodation. But we felt it was necessary in this case to warn others what to expect if the owner decides not to improve the property to an acceptable standard.
