Good sized accommodation for two people in an area that is out of the way but easy to to surrounding areas. Very friendly family that own property who make you feel welcome. Only thing that I would say is it is very close to a working dairy farm and you get noise from what I believe to be milking sheds from around 6am but I am a light sleeper so may not be an issue with other guests.

We stayed from 5th-12th August 2016 We found the property set in the grounds of the owner's house which happened to be right opposite, so shared the same driveway..this was gated so security wasnt an issue, however we were situated right next to the neighbours barn where they do the milking, which we thought would be a problem, we didn't hear them much just the generators in the mornings, and depending on the wind direction a little smelly but not enough to put us off. We were told we could enjoy their grounds but kept ourselves to ourselves and had a peaceful break as intended. The area was beautiful lots to see and do, most things we did were an hour drive away but worth it, but still loads to do nearer. Recommend doing Chatsworth house, matlock bath cable cars, churnet railway, all had lovely views and lots to see and do. We would recommend this place to others, as ideal for walkers.

The location of the cottage suited us perfectly and we were made most welcome by the owners. A warm and cosy cottage close to some of the most beautiful scenery in the country - what more could one wish for?

Churnet Lodge is a wonderful place to stay, it is clean and it has a very high specification. I found Churnet Lodge is very peaceful and very quiet. Churnet Lodge is set within the owner's grounds and whilst it is also next to a farm and cow barn there was little or no noise from the farm and no unpleasant smells. The owners are extremely hospitable and very kind plus welcoming. I would have no hesitation in recommending Churnet Lodge.

A wonderful little property surrounded by so many things to do. We could've easily spent weeks there and not got bored. Some of the holiday ratings are lower due to not being informed the milking shed for the dairy farm was next to the cottage and that we would be disturbed from dawn! The other was that we would've appreciated a change of towels at least mid week. Other than these little niggles it was a super find and we would recommend it to couples who want a getaway
