the cottage was lovely and the owners were very friendly the only problems we had which is why the marks are low is there were many rules in the house book yet to walk to the garden we had to walk around the side of the house which was often like a minefield of the owners' dogs' poo. One morning we open the door to find a big dog poo next to the welcome mat. It is alright to have rules like 'make sure you pick up your dog poo and do not let your dogs off the lead on the property' if the owners are going to follow it as well. we did warn the owners one of our dogs was nervous of other dogs and could snap out yet every day we had their dog Jake on our door step, tried to follow us into the garden which really was very difficult as our dog got very upset. there was one situation where one of their dogs got stuck in the garden and we had to go and rescue it off the high wall that run around the garden. it is a shame that these situations let the cottage down as it was a lovely cottage and was very well kept and very clean.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments on the cottage. We do not state anywhere that dogs should be kept on leads. All dogs visiting us are very welcome to play outside in the garden and run in the fields surrounding us. We only ask that a dog is on a lead if in a field with our livestock of either sheep or cows. We pick up any dog poos daily but do have dogs from surrounding farms that also like to visit and do like to poo too, which we pick up as well. The only rule we ask is that pet owners do not let their dogs onto the beds or sofas as it takes ages to remove dog hairs and is not nice for other guests who visit. I did not charge or mention anything to welcome about the dog hairs I had to spend a considerable amount of time removing from the sofa once you left. Jake loves both humans and other dogs so I’m very sorry he offended you by waiting on the doorstep. He just wants to be friendly and loves children throwing balls or sticks for him. We’re very sorry the cottage and surroundings were not up to your expectations but we are a working farm and all our dogs love meeting new visitors. We love nothing more for people to come and visit us, enjoy the countryside, walk without putting their dogs on leads, relax and enjoy experiencing life in the country rather than a town for a change.

We had a very warm welcome at the farm. Nothing was too much trouble. It was a roomy cottage, comfortable, warm and extremely cosy with the log burner. The kitchen was well equipped too. We had a brilliant stay with a mixed age group from 5 years to 65 years!
