Character cottage in the very heart of the medieval town of Kendal close to riverside walks, cobbled street lined with cafes and shops and only 15 minutes drive from Windermere

Nestling in the shadow of the ancient parish church of Kendal, Church Walk Cottage enjoys an enviable position close to riverside walks and the centre of this popular Auld Grey Town. Kendal has a vast array of attractions for the first time or returning visitor including Kendal Castle, the former home of Katherine Parr and a delightful shopping area, pedestrianised to create a traffic free shopping experience, boasting cobbled streets lined with an eclectic mix of shops, restaurants and cafes. Only 10 minutes from the M6, Kendal, known as ’gateway’ to the Lakes, is ideally situated for exploring Southern Lakeland and the Yorkshire Dales.
This quintessential character property offers delightful accommodation for the smaller party with original features of flagged floors and feature fireplaces combined with modern day kitchen and bathroom. The seating area to the front is perfect for enjoying meals al fresco when our weather will allow whilst listening to the Ring O Bells (also the name of the nearby pub) just along the way. Your dog is welcome to join you here at Church Walk Cottage.

While the cottage was adequate, and quite charming, I felt the price was too high for the standard. The kitchen was dated, and the dining room floor very worn. The outside courtyards could do with a little attention: there were weeds at the front, and a very plain rear courtyard needed some plants etc to make it more welcoming.

Excellent location , very homely cottage. Good for dog as front and back of property has gates, and park and river nearby are handy for local dog walking. 5 !

A house with real character and walking distance from Kendal town centre. You will need a car as you will need to drive in to the lakes and to other holiday attractions each day, and the Kendal one way system will give you a bit of a traffic queue every morning. Weirdly most pubs in Kendal stop serving food quite early every evening so eating out is a bit of a challenge, so for that Lake District holiday atmosphere at the end of each day this probably isn't the place to stay. But that is probably the only negative.
