Church View, with its beautiful outlook to St Mary’s Church, boasts a variety of charming period features, including some rare wig cupboards, fireplaces, beams and stone mullion windows

Church View, with its beautiful outlook to St Mary’s Church, boasts a variety of charming period features, including some rare wig cupboards, fireplaces, beams and stone mullion windows. This wonderful, attached holiday cottage is situated in Lower Slaughter, a picturesque village with Cotswold stone cottages and a water mill arranged around the River Eye. The mill has a gift shop and museum, riverside tea rooms and a working water wheel. Within a few miles is the Cotswold village of Bourton-on-the-Water, famed for its series of low, stone bridges, which span the fast flowing River Windrush. Plenty of sightseeing opportunities include the model village, Cotswold Motor Museum, Birdworld and a perfumery. Other nearby honey-coloured villages well worth a visit include Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh, with its famous Tuesday market, and Chipping Campden. The city of Gloucester, with its magnificent cathedral and tomb of Edward II, is within easy reach, as is the Regency city of Cheltenham, with its famous racecourse. NT properties are abounding, including Snowshill Manor and Woodchester Park. For horticultural enthusiasts, there is Westonbirt Arboretum, Kiftsgate Court and Hidcote Manor. A mainline railway station at Kingham, 8 miles away, provides services to London Paddington, with the journey time being around 80 minutes. There are two hotels within a 5-minute walking distance with the option to dine. Shop 2 miles, pub ¼ mile.

Beautiful and very well equipped cottage. Stunning location. I think for us we would have liked an extra bathroom but other than that this place is perfect and we would highly recommend it.

Lovely house in beautiful area. Two sitting rooms, but the one with working open fire , which we booked house for did not have enough comfortable seating for 7 people so some of us had to sit on hard chairs. If there had been an open fire on the other sitting room, it would have been perfect. Other slight grouse was the kettle, which has a very short cord and was hard to fill. House was beautifully warm. We would definitely revisit.

Excellent cottage, well-equipped and comfortable. It's spacious too, with three reception rooms. Full of character and in village centre position. Lower Slaughter is lovely but rather touristy - but there are great walks in all directions and some classic country towns with wonderful churches - plus interesting shops and cafes. Small point: the cottage is hard to identify on current instructions - we had to search hard!
