Church View, with its beautiful outlook to St Mary’s Church, boasts a variety of charming period features, including some rare wig cupboards, fireplaces, beams and stone mullion windows. This wonderful, attached holiday cottage is situated in Lower Slaughter, a picturesque village with Cotswold stone cottages and a water mill arranged around the River Eye. The mill has a gift shop and museum, riverside tea rooms and a working water wheel. Within a few miles is the Cotswold village of Bourton-on-the-Water, famed for its series of low, stone bridges, which span the fast flowing River Windrush. Plenty of sightseeing opportunities include the model village, Cotswold Motor Museum, Birdworld and a perfumery. Other nearby honey-coloured villages well worth a visit include Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh, with its famous Tuesday market, and Chipping Campden. The city of Gloucester, with its magnificent cathedral and tomb of Edward II, is within easy reach, as is the Regency city of Cheltenham, with its famous racecourse. NT properties are abounding, including Snowshill Manor and Woodchester Park. For horticultural enthusiasts, there is Westonbirt Arboretum, Kiftsgate Court and Hidcote Manor. A mainline railway station at Kingham, 8 miles away, provides services to London Paddington, with the journey time being around 80 minutes. There are two hotels within a 5-minute walking distance with the option to dine. Shop 2 miles, pub ¼ mile.

What a fantastic cottage. We had a lovely long weekend stay. 4 adults and 4 children, the space was perfect and we enjoyed having 2 sitting rooms as the kids could use one and us adults could have 5 minutes peace. The garden is perfect for a game of football & a glass of wine in the evening, the only complaint we have is that the weather wasn't sunny all weekend 😉 Would definitely recommend this cottage to others who want to stay in a quiet town but close enough to a lovely village pub and other local attractions.

Excellent family holiday in a beautiful house in a lovely position in the village. The garden was enjoyed by all especially as we had some very hot days. Great place to be able to set off to visit local towns and villages. Very enjoyable and relaxing holiday.

Beautiful and very well equipped cottage. Stunning location. I think for us we would have liked an extra bathroom but other than that this place is perfect and we would highly recommend it.

Lovely house in beautiful area. Two sitting rooms, but the one with working open fire , which we booked house for did not have enough comfortable seating for 7 people so some of us had to sit on hard chairs. If there had been an open fire on the other sitting room, it would have been perfect. Other slight grouse was the kettle, which has a very short cord and was hard to fill. House was beautifully warm. We would definitely revisit.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Diane thank you for taking the time to review Church View. I'm sorry you found some of the sitting room chairs too firm for you. The pictures online of both sitting rooms do show the latest chairs in situ and we have a mix of softer sofas and wooden and wicker fireplace armchairs to try and accommodate all preferences (and bad backs!) We have recently added window seat cushions to soften them. I think the longer kettle cord was wound underneath the base to keep things tidy on the work-surface and the whole of the kettle lids flips open for filling. Maybe this was stiff when you stayed. We hope to see you at Church View again.
