English Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

This holiday property is perfectly located to explore Devon and the many coastal attractions, such as the Exe Estuary, Dartmoor and Exeter.

Situated in the peaceful Devon village of Exminster, down a quiet no-through lane, is Church Stile Cottage, a Grade II listed property. Adjoining the owner’s home, this holiday property is very spacious and furnished to a good standard. It is perfectly located to discover Devon, with beaches and coastal paths, the Exe Estuary, the many NT properties and walking on Dartmoor with its tors, ponies and beautiful little villages (ideal for cream teas). Exeter is close by, with shopping, cafes, restaurants, bars and a cathedral. Buses run to the seaside and to Exeter every 20 minutes during the day, and continue to run late into the evening. Exminster is a friendly village and has a post office, pharmacy, GP surgery, dentists, churches and a golf course. Shop 100 yards, pub 500 yards.

The Cottage was so thoughtfully put together and well appointed that I felt I had known it for ever and was immediately at home. Wonderful. My grandaughters live in the village and they loved visiting me. We all had such a good time.

Really this was a very convenient and well equipped cottage. The reason I only gave it 9 out of ten on one category was because I hate leather sofas! you spend your life sliding off them. The only other comment was that a warning about the slope of the bathroom floor might be appropriate. As one gets older one is not always as sure footed as before - having just come out of hospital I found it a bit disconcerting - add to that a glass of wine! well need I say more. But it was nice and peaceful and very conveniently located. We enjoyed our stay Shame it didn't have a garden!

This is a great base to explore this corner of Devon, the cottage is spacious & very quiet. A few extra items of crockery would be useful, as would a DVD player. Parking is no problem & Terry & Rachel are right next door if you need them. We enjoyed Exminster, lots of short walks to do around the village, plus several longer ones as well.

Lovely cottage convenient for buses, walks, local shops, pubs but quiet as few yards away from main road. Clean and well equipped.

This was our second visit with a gap of 5 years. Nothing appeared to have changed.Comfy, clean, great bus service and lovely village[which has definitely grown].The only downside for us was that in our second week we were invaded by flies. This lasted for about 4 days with no obvious source.Apart from this-no problems.
