Description

A great family holiday base with countryside views and equipped with an indoor heated salt-water swimming pool.

Located within its own landscaped garden at the edge of the village, this spacious detached house with fine countryside views, makes a comfortable holiday base for families. An indoor heated salt-water swimming pool with Roman steps leading into the water is available for sole use and an indoor games area offers table tennis and table football. Great Bircham itself has a village shop, post office, art/craft gallery, pub, playing field and a windmill (open April until end of September) with bakery and tearoom, and bicycles available for hire.
Lying just 8 miles away, the beautiful Norfolk coastline provides plenty of cycle routes and coastal walks, with superb bird watching to be experienced at the RSPB Titchwell Marsh. The lively seaside town of Hunstanton offers traditional attractions with long stretches of sandy beaches and rock pools, and this together with a Sea Life Centre, shops, inns, restaurants and excellent sports facilities – bowls, tennis, golf and water sports – makes it a popular venue with families. The neighbouring resort of Heacham, home to Norfolk Lavender, has uncrowded sandy beaches where a day by the sea can be spent with a picnic. For the more adventurous, sea fishing and boat trips can be arranged to Scolt Island nature reserve and to see the seal colonies. At Brancaster (8 miles), a large beach, excellent sailing and windsurfing is offered, together with world-class golf. The historical towns of Kings Lynn, Fakenham and Holt lie within easy reach and provide a selection of shops, theatres, inns and restaurants. Stately homes abound in the area, notably Sandringham Estate (grounds open all year round, house open to the public when the Royal Family is not in residence), Holkham and Houghton Halls and the historical ruins of Castle Acre and Priory. Shop and pub ¼ mile.

Dear Sue We had a super time at Cherry Ridge last weekend. Thank you. We all enjoyed the pool although I was puzzled that the pump seems to rumble away 24/7 and makes quite a noise in the lounge and master bedroom. The children enjoyed the big garden and various walks around the village were taken. Just one or two other things to say: I'm sorry that I broke one of the small wine glasses. The colander and whisk are getting to the end of their life and could do with replacing. I think the laser in the CD player is going...we kept losing sound intermittently. A bulb went in the back bedroom. It was pretty cold and a few extra blankets would have been handy. Hooks or rails on bedroom doors for hanging dressing gowns and towels would be useful. Owner thoughtfully provided ample numbers of towels but nowhere to hang them. These few ideas would, I think, make vistors' stays even more enjoyable. Thank you for the use ofor this lovely holiday home. Well equipped and comfortable.

A lovely house in a beautiful setting convenient for the coast and other amenities. The swimming pool was great although rather cold - considerably colder than our local swimming pool although we were told it should be 29 degrees. The light in the pool room toilet was not working which made it unusable as it was so dark and also we could not get any hot water to run in the pool room shower. All 5 bedrooms are a good size and very comfortable. Overall we had an enjoyable long weekend.

best bits: large home, plenty of space and an above average sized indoor pool. Close to Sandringham but in a isolated village. Tesco did deliver to this location. Plenty of towels provided, heating system easy to operate. Recommendations for improvement: replace non working light bulbs, fix extractor hood (reduce smell accross house), upgrade to SMART TV, fix doors that dont close properly and tighten screws on squeaky furniture especially the bed! Unfortunately 3 out of 4 kids got ear infections which has never happened before when using swimming pools.

We had a fantastic time at Cherry Ridge 3 families aged 68 to 4. The grandchildren 4 of them loved the pool so much we had trouble getting them out to go to the beach. The garden is amazing safe and lots of space to run around. The 4 chickens from next door visited everyday and we purchased eggs from the owners. We were blessed with good weather and ate breakfast on the garden 4 mornings. The only downsize was the size of the fridge/freezer too small for 10 people. Could I suggest a fridge in the garage or utility for the wine/beer etc.

The main reason for choosing Cherry Ridge was the swimming pool and this did not disappoint. Lovely size complete with changing/shower facility and plenty of towels! Agree with previous comment re the garage where the table tennis and table football are kept. Would definitely benefit from a good sweep. Enjoyed watching the rabbits in the lovely garden and even had a visit from a deer.

A lovely house and had great contact with the owner, mentioned that the kettle was working intermittently and a replacement arrived the next morning. Pool was lovely and the children enjoyed having adventures in the garden. Owners recommended Brancaster beach to us and it was lovely with the water pools. A great location for getting to places. This was our last term time holiday before the children start school and it was great, we sadly wont be able to return as its out of our price range for school holidays.

Cherry Ridge was clean, comfortable and extremely well equipped. We have never had so many towels provided before in a holiday home and little extras like bars of soap were most appreciated. The garden is lovely and there was plenty of garden furniture and areas of shade for the very hot days we experienced. The swimming pool was brilliant- we all swam every day and our little two year old grandson- timid in the water at first, became really confident and asked as soon as he got up" Can we go in the swimming pool please?" Great to have the table tennis etc too. The house is in a brilliant position for exploring the coast and it was such a pleasure to drive along pretty, practically empty country roads. The village shop was a bonus although not so good for basic foodstuffs and newspapers must be ordered. Has lovely sandwiches and deli items though. A really good reasonably priced holiday home.
