Lovely, peaceful and well equipped (kitchen wise but also outdoor and indoor games as well as outdoor furniture) gite. Exactly as detailed. Very spacious compared to other properties we have rented(in UK). Housekeeper is welcoming and helpful. There is a file giving details of lots of places to visit. Riberac had a fantastic Friday market. Fewer stalls on a rainy Friday but still worth a visit. La Jemaye or Aubeterre sur Dronne are the places to go to for swimming and splashing if you have children.

The gite is in a quiet spot well away from busy roads. It is excellently equipped. Comfortable beds and very comfy couches. Good to have a TV with English speaking channels. We did the culture, tourist thing during the day, so it was good to sit in front of the telly in the evening and vegetate over several glasses of wine. It was a pleasure to sit in the garden and listen to the birds. The sun setting over the maize fields was a delight. We are glad we took a two week option, especially having driven all the way from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. The only draw back with two weeks is that the bed linen and towels are not replaced mid way. As this is done when the one week lettings finish and as two weeks are paid for, I'd suggest the owners consider this. They have a 'housekeeper' who lives nearby and this could easily be achieved. We washed the towels but bed linen would have been a problem if the weather had not allowed them to dry. It would be easy for the 'housekeeper' to simply leave two weeks worth of toweling and bedlinen. Could I also suggest that the key for the postbox be available and that guests be told to check it each day. We lost the good part of a day because the waterboard turned the water off due to nearby works. I gather the notice was in the box as we only discovered what had happened later when we asked the nearby neighbour who had received his notice. The water was off from 8am to 1pm. We had both started showers when the water ran out on us. We texted the number we had for the housekeeper but got no reply. There is no wi-fi to the property so this could be an issue for some. All in all, a lovely place.
