Description

Nearly 400 years old, this spacious farmhouse, has lovely walks along the Tarka Trail, fishing at nearby Stafford Moor Lakes, Torrington is close by.

In the heart of the ’Devonshire Cream Tea Country’

This spacious farmhouse was built approximately 400 years ago and has been beautifully appointed to a good standard throughout. Now a welcoming holiday home, it has a superb kitchen, beams, inglenook fireplaces and some exposed rafters. The Beaford area is marvellous walking territory; there are riverbank, moorland and country lane walks, and Chaplands is ideally placed for walking through the beautiful north Devon countryside. At the end of the day, refresh yourself in one of the very good, local, unspoiled country pubs in nearby villages such as Dolton, Winkleigh, Roborough and Iddesleigh, where Michael Morpurgo’s ’War Horse’ is set.. Set on the edge of the village with Dartmoor in full view, there are lovely walks along the Tarka Trail and Exmoor, fishing in the nearby Stafford Moor Lakes, and the north Devon coast is 15 miles. Torrington, with the RHS Rosemoor Garden is 5 miles away. Shop 100 yards, pub serving food in village.

Had a lovely holiday in a great location to visit plenty of attractions and the cottage was comfy and spacious with all the comforts of home and a stunning view.

The issues raised by the previous holiday party had been dealt with before we got there a week later. The grass had been mown and the garden was immaculate, the kitchen had been deep cleaned. The standard at Chaplands is very high and I would recommend it to families looking to get away from it all. The WIFI connection is a real plus at Chaplands. The cottage is well equipped for cooking.

Great & spacious with everything you need. Could do with a bit of TLC with regards to cleaning in the kitchen and grass was over grown but we did have a great week and in a good location.

This is the second time we have stayed at Chaplands. The house is well equipped and really comfortable (the sofa would benefit from an upgrade) but other than that another lovely week in the cottage. Great if you have dogs, as there is plenty of space and the field behind the cottage is great for them to run around in.

We arrived at the cottage to find it of a very poor standard of cleanliness, so bad that we had to spend a while cleaning it, particularly the kitchen. Garden was unsafe for children and dogs despite it being a dog friendly cottage. The pictures are very deceiving, the property is on a main road through the village which we didn't feel was reflected in the photos on the advert. The cottage is of a good size but is let down by the derelict part of the propert which is attatched, the cleanliness, the safety aspect and being on a main road. We did receive apologins from the owner and cottages4u after pictures were forwarded evidencing the issues in to property but by this point it was a case of too little too late. Our cottage experience was ruined and an apology was insufficient.
