Lovely cottage with character in a beautiful location. Was told everything we needed would be there just bring your own towels. There was no: washing up liquid, measuring jug or jug of any sort, no potato peeler. Cleanliness was rather disappointing: Kitchen; filthy dish drainer, small black hairs on the crockery, frying pan really greasy. Bedroom; the upstairs bedroom carpet did not look as though it had been vacuumed, the pillows smelt. Bathroom; tide mark around the bath, dog hairs, dust & other hairs around the sides of the bath and in and around the hand basin, toilet & cistern. Vacuum cleaner had no attachments so it was hard work vacuuming the floor.

The owner telephoned before we arrived and was very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately when we arrived we found that the kitchen was filthy. Old food left in the dish drainer, dirty cupboard doors, ground in dirt on shelves, sticky brown stuff on the worktop. I could go on. The furniture was old and uncomfortable, the suite in the upstairs lounge had collapsed in the seats and very uncomfortable. We found sweet wrappers and the wrapper from the top of a bottle of wine on the floor. The downstairs lounge suite is dirty and old. I couldn't bring myself to sit on it. The bedroom furniture was in part old, dirty chipboard furniture that was well past its useful time. We used sleeping bags and our own pillows rather than sleeping on the tired, stained bedding. The shower is a nightmare to use, if you put it on full it blasts the shower curtain out if the way and sprays everywhere, turn it down and it's a trickle. There's no adjustment on the shower head. The location of chandlers cottage is perfect and there is a lovely view of the harbour from the upstairs lounge. It's such a shame that we didn't get to see this cottage at its best.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We were very surprised, disappointed and concerned by the issues raised following your two night stay at the Cottage. We ask all our guests to raise concerns immediately to avoid disappointment. Guests can contact us, the Owners, or one of our team who are based right next door and are on hand most of the time each day. We are saddened that you did not raise your concerns at the time, thereby giving us the opportunity to rectify them or discuss them with you during your stay. The cottage is thoroughly cleaned after each visit and clean bed linen refitted. The beds are not dirty and we were rather surprised that you brought your own sleeping bags and pillows to a furnished holiday cottage. The furniture is not ultra-modern but it is in keeping with a cottage with listed building status that is situated in a conservation area in the medieval walled town of Conwy. The suite in the bottom lounge is dark in colour but certainly not dirty. With regards to the shower, the taps have to be turned on and adjusted during use. If there was a problem, you could have asked us and we would have been more than happy to explain how it works.

Great location. Fallen in love with Conwy! A nice cottage with character. Loved the upstairs lounge. However more attention to fixtures, fittings and equipment would move this cottage out of the 'nice' category and into the 'great' category. Upstairs sofa needs replacing (uncomfortable - saggy) and the fire didnt produce much heat. Shower is a law unto itself if you want to avoid flooding the bathroom - shower curtain can't cope with force of shower and shower head not adjustable to help solve that problem. Kitchen could have been better kitted out - bare minimum for cutlery, small saucepans, no grill tray - just the pan. Meals had to be planned around the shortage of equipment Despite the need of more attention to comfort and functionality, would recommend it and would stay there again.

This cottage is in a wonderful location it was scrupulously clean and had everything needed. the views from the attic over the bay is fantastic, Any problems were dealt with promptly. The owner contacted me in advance to make sure I had all the info needed and made sure I could contact someone if I needed. But the beds were very uncomfortable. Apart from that all other problems were due to my own mobility problems. The décor was dated, but as a base to explore Conwy it was perfect except the beds.

Just had a week here and had a great time. Mind you, we had absolutely fabulous weather for January and were out walking every day. The cottage is old but quaint. Don't expect mod cons but the basics are there and, ignoring the very cold living room downstairs, it was warm. We lived in the upstairs living room which has great views and was very comfortable - just a lot of stairs down to get the beer!! Beds were comfy and the bathroom. although basic, had a good shower - in fact it was almost too powerful for the curtain!
