An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above..

Description

Dolgoed House is beautifully situated located in the west of the Brecon Beacons National Park, and is also ideal for exploring the Fforest Fawr Geopark.

Cennen Cottages are set off a country lane close to the small village of Bethlehem in the upper Twyi Valley with lovely views across open farmland and up towards Carn Goch, an Iron age hill fort. Dolgoed House (ref RA5) has lots of character with exposed stone and beams and boasts four en-suite bedrooms; two of which are on the ground floor. Y Stabl (ref OM2) is an attractive stone barn conversion. Both properties stand detached and have a wood-burning stove for cosy evenings, and a large lawned garden and patio for enjoying al fresco dining on warmer days.

Located in the west of the Brecon Beacons National Park, between the boutique town of Llandeilo and the farming village of Llangadog, both just a few miles away and offer a good choice of places to eat and drink. There is spectacular walking along the high ridges of the Fforest Fawer Geopark, plus scenic cycle rides or drives along the river. The area is home to the red kite, one of the UK’s most beautiful birds of prey. It is also the setting of numerous castle and historical sites set in stunning locations including Carreg Cennen, Newtwon House, Dinefwr Castle and Park and the Dolau Cothi Gold Mines (underground tours available). The National Botanic Garden of Wales, with its giant glass dome is well worth a visit at any time of year, while at the coast, Kidwelly Castle and Pembrey Country Park, with its 8 miles of sandy beaches, are must-see day trips. Shop and pubs and restaurant 3 miles.

Spacious living/dining room with wood-burning stove and wooden floor. Spacious kitchen with breakfast table and tiled floor. Utility/garage. Beamed double bedroom with TV, sitting area, door to patio and en-suite bathroom with bath, shower cubicle and toilet. Further double bedroom with en-suite shower room and toilet. Separate toilet. First floor: Beamed double bedroom with TV and step down to en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. Beamed twin bedroom with step down to en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

Lovely place to stay away from it all Lower score local amenities just because not alot on the doorstop but not a bad thing Great for less mobile as two beds on ground floor and all on the level Wouldn't hesitate to stay again

Dogoed House is a spacious well equipped house suitable for adults and children as there is a large enclosed garden for play. There are a few easily fixed deficiencies which we have pointed out to the manager such as a complete lack of towel rails in the bathrooms but overall it is very comfortable and warm. Guests should be aware that it is 3 miles from the nearest shops/restaurants/pubs and we used a taxi service from Llanadog when we ate out. Sightseeing in the local area is limited but it is a great base for walking and the scenery and views from the house are stunning when the sun shines.

Dogoed house is spacious and has been renovated to a very high standard. We were spending time there with our adult children and their partners so having en suite bathrooms to every room was brilliant. The location is stunning close to the village of Bethlehem and Llandeilo with lovely independent shops. Although very comfortable accommodation we felt it was lacking a homely feel with a lack of soft furnishings and and attention to detail that we have been used to in other holiday cottages. Several visitors had mentioned things that they would have appreciated e.g. place to hang towels in bathroom (even a hook on back of bathroom door would suffice), Ice trays, egg cups and other small pieces of kitchen equipment, but unfortunately this hadn't been addressed. We had also requested a travel cot on our booking form but non was provided.

Lovely weekend, family of 18 (variety of ages), splendid accommodation beautiful countryside views, no walkable pub or shop though so take anything you need, great to chill out. Walked to Garn Goch worth doing, red kites amazing!
