Description

A romantic hideaway with spectacular views over Cardigan Bay, perfect for that peaceful break.

Commanding spectacular views over Cardigan Bay, these four holiday properties enjoy an elevated position nestled beside a mountain stream, accessed by a steep shared drive. Woodland Roost (ref WN72) is a detached hideaway located within a woodland garden and Cedar Rest (ref WN82) and Coastal Retreat (ref 28519) are delightful wings of the owners’ 16th-century hillside farmhouse. Ceilwart Cottage (ref WN73) is situated in a beautiful, terraced garden with patio, BBQ and patio furniture, and has strong green credentials with its solar panels for hot water, a ground source heat pump for the comfortable central heating and cosy sheep’s’ wool insulation, not forgetting the triple glazed windows and the UV filtered natural spring water. They all overlook the owners’ field, and are only a mile away from the town of Barmouth, with its choice of shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants. A steep walk across the road takes you to the promenade and a beautiful sandy beach. Close by are all the amenities of the Snowdonia National Park, Harlech with its castle and golf course, Portmeirion, and steam trains run from Porthmadog. They are secluded but not isolated, with horse riding, fishing and mountain bike centres within an easy drive. Shops, pubs and restaurants 1 mile.

I would definitely recommend Cedar Rest, the only thing I didn't like was the hill up to the cottage from the main street. It is VERY steep. Other than that, wonderful views, a good location for trips out and Barmouth was a lovely little town to visit.

This is a delightful little cottage, the owner who lives next door is lovely. The cottage is cosy and comfortable with wonderful views to the sea. It is a short way to the end of the promenade in Barmouth, but the path is steep in places. Overall an excellent retreat, would love to spend a week here.

Very disappointed. This cottage is dated and tatty, with a very uncomfortable bed and in need of maintenance. The bath panel was detaching from the bath (exposing the duct tape used to try to repair it!), the oven and extraction fan smelled of stale grease, one of the bed slats was broken but simply left on the floor beneath the bed. We left early.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Sorry to find you were disappointed with the property during your stay. The property is accurately described and as shown in photos. The real leather sleigh bed with a sprung slatted base and memory foam mattress is less than 2 years old, there was an issue with bath panel being damaged and a temporary repair has been made but this does not affect the function of the bath.

Superb location on the hillside overlooking the Coast, lovely cottage at the end of the property with a private patio and conservatory. Being on a hill side gives you a great outlook, and good exercise walking back from the promenade.

This is an excellent small cottage for two people. From the conservatory and the terrace, there are lovely views over the sea, and while it is close to the main road, because it is high above it, there is little traffic noise. The bathroom is very spacious, the bedroom comfortable, and the kitchen, while small and not lavishly equipped, is perfectly adequate. We really enjoyed our weekend there.
