Excellent apart from the bathroom as the shower wasn't great. Surrounding area was lovely close enough to walk into the small town and the beach. The cottage was set back from the road it felt like you were totally isolated, it was peaceful with beautiful country views. Great if you have dogs.

This is a beautiful cottage. I have been visiting Criccieth for many years and wish I'd found this place sooner. It is only a 10-minute walk from the seafront but yet it feels like it is in the middle of nowhere (in a good way!). It is set amongst beautiful, peaceful fields and we observed lots of wildlife during our stay including owls, bats and butterflies. We were very relaxed here and I'm sure we will return.

CEFNIWRCH BACH is a pleasant little cottage set at the end of a very hard to find track. The cottage has three bedrooms upstairs, with the lounge, a snug, the bathroom and the kitchen all downstairs. Upon arrival there were no helpful instructions or guides as to how the cottage worked, or leaflets to show what was available in the area. We had to figure out that the hot water was delivered by immersion heater, which was not on any sort of timer, so if you forget to turn it on, no hot water. Other properties that we have been to have also left a pint of milk and a couple of teabags. Nothing of that sort here. As said, the cottage is pleasant. It does a job and does it well, but without any frills. We found the beds too soft (but aren't they all when you are away from home) and the duvets far too heavy for summer. The bathroom was nicely decked out, but let down by damp patches on the wall. The shower was very hard to get right, with the cold water pressure far exceeding that of the hot, so it was a bit of a lottery whether you froze or burnt. Same story with the kitchen. Nice units and table, but the smoke alarm went off if you just looked at the toaster or oven, the oven door handle was dodgy and the taps in the sink were ridiculous. So, in summary, it could be a great little cottage, but there are things that need sorting out for that to happen.

Great place to stay. Unfortunately bedrooms smaller than anticipated, no upstairs toilet and finish could be better.

Wonderful private location, within walking distance of Criccieth and overall the Cottage oozed character and personality. Delighted that we could close the gate and leave the dog to wander! Kitchen extension modern and bright, with lots of space in here, perhaps could do with a dishwasher to improve the score. Lovely sitting rooms - showing the age of the cottage, by maintaining some of the old features. Nice sized bedrooms, with plenty of storage available with nice, clean decor. Decent Wi-Fi speed too! Downside? 4 points. Bathroom requires a revamp, top of the wardrobes & under the bed(s) require better cleaning between visits, as did the kitchen 'dresser' in the corner.

Leaky kitchen ceiling when it rains; check with the owner that this has been fixed before you visit. The existing bathroom door can’t be fastened shut from the outside so swings open if other doors in the house are opened, and there is no other intervening door between the bathroom and the living room. I find it unpleasant to turn away from a TV and have a toilet in full view, and occasionally pongy and embarrassing , especially as there is a hole in the bottom of the bathroom door. Maybe i'm picky and you won't mind! The shower mixer tap runs from the emersion. No doubt if you stay there a long time you learn how to get a shower that doesn’t scald or freeze but we never managed it and had to queue for baths which took ages from the emersion heater. A reliable hot shower is very important on an activity holiday, especially on cold wet days. so this was the final straw for us. The beds are uncomfortable and creak like mad really loudly. There was no romance. Everyone complained and the occupant in the smallest room got a bad back There were lots of minor things – the toilet flush jams, broken cupboard-door handles in the kitchen , poor kitchen utensils, the laughable robe hooks on the bathroom door, the small bedroom so small in fact you can’t even open the door properly, it’s just too depressing to go through all of them. I’m sure there is a welcome in the hillside somewhere in Wales but it wasn’t here – the only welcome this had were crumbs in the biscuit barrel, half a dozen tea bags and the ashes of previous visitors’ fire . The house reeked of chemical air-fresheners which did my asthma no good at all - no doubt because of the previous entry visitors book complaining about other more unsavoury smells. All in all if you are not picky and get a cheap deal, then go, but if you like clean modern facilities - avoid.

It could be good if carpets cleaned or replaced the stairway and upstairs smelt and the dirt at the Base of stairs rail. The double bed needs better quality mattress and bathroom needs updating and needs heater for cooler times of the year if updated would consider revisit great for dogs with enclosed garden

Lovely location, however, the bathroom needed to be modernised and more kitchen equipment and a dishwasher would be nice
