Description

Fishing is a tranquil pastime available at this cottage, together with swimming, tennis, badminton and more.

On-site facilities including swimming pool

These beautiful cottages have been tastefully renovated from a traditional Welsh barn and are set in the heart of Pembrokeshire alongside the Llys-y-Fran Country Park and reservoir. There are plenty of facilities available for guests free of charge, including croquet and badminton, a heated covered swimming pool, all-weather tennis court and a children’s play garden. You can also enjoy the country park which is less than a minute’s walk and has a 200-acre reservoir and an impressive 100ft dam, the largest game fishing in west Wales. This is a beautiful woodland setting with a delightful nature trail for both walkers and cyclists, and an 8-mile perimeter trail providing fine views and a variety of wildlife including badgers, foxes and otters. The broadleaf woodland provides a breeding site for sparrowhawk, buzzard and woodpecker, whilst the lake attracts uncommon water bird species such as little gull and black tern. Set in the heart of Pembrokeshire, giving access to beaches, national park, the historic Preseli Mountains and the worlds famous Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and Coastal Path. Within a short drive is Oakwood Theme Park. A holiday in Pembrokeshire would not be complete without a visit to the picturesque harbour and the golden beaches at Tenby or the busy resort of Saundersfoot, a complete contrast from the more secluded parts perhaps, but always popular with children. Also within a short drive are Manor House Wildlife Park, Caldey Island, with its cistercian monastery and countless historic castles such as Carew, and Pembroke. It is an ideal location for a perfect family holiday as a getaway or for trying some of the outdoor pursuits and entertainment. Pembrokeshire is famous for its excellent restaurants and pubs. In the immediate vicinity there is the country park restaurant and two pubs serving food in the village of Clarbeston Road (3 miles). Golf and horse riding are within 5 miles.

Lovely cottage in a very remote location. It took at least 30-45 minutes to drive anywhere! Well equipped but small kitchen. Lovely log burning stove with complimentary basket of logs was a nice touch. The owners provided a stair gate to the top and bottom of the stairs as well as a high chair and travel cot which made the cottage suitable for our 2 year old daughter. The mattress in the main bedroom was very firm which didn't make for a great night's sleep. The children's play area had lots of equipment (slides, swings, climbing frames, playhouse and games room) but everything was really dirty. So much so that I swept out the playhouse myself and took all the play kitchen things back to the cottage and cleaned them so my daughter could play with them! The grass in all the play areas was also very overgrown which meant we usually got wet feet from the dew. Good sized swimming pool which was clean but cold! I imagine it would be refreshing on a hot summer's day but in September it was a bit chilly, especially going back to the cottage after a swim as there is no changing facilities at the pool! Paid for Wi-Fi (£5/stay) meant that internet access was good. Mobile phone signals were also good despite the remote location.

Lovely cottage - a little far from places but fine if you have a car. Beautiful surroundings if you like walking. Great and friendly welcome from Gareth and good to know he's on hand if there are any problems - not that there were! The cottage is very well equipped - note the bathroom is down stairs, there is an en suite room but the 3 bed room would have to use the loo downstairs - could be an issue for the older or younger guests at night. Plenty of room though in the cottage and very quiet / cosy. Recommend trips to Broadhaven, Marloes Sands and the cavern centre - annas zoo also very good. Theres an excellent pub restaurant in St Davids with a beer garden if you have a dog.
