Enjoy the opportunity to stay in a penthouse apartment, set in the gardens of a Regency country house with shared use of a swimming pool.

Carnethic Penthouse is set in the award-winning gardens of a Regency country house on the edge of Fowey on Cornwall’s south coast. The holiday property was awarded the VisitEngland 5 Star Gold Award 2012/3 and it enjoys shared use of a heated 15m swimming pool, sauna and changing room. The pool lies within beautiful gardens, set to lawn with shrubs, trees and plants and the pool house has a retractable glass roof, which can be opened to enjoy the sun or closed to maintain a perfect environment to enjoy the warm water of the pool.
The Penthouse lies on the edge of historic Fowey, a picturesque town with quaint, narrow streets as well as steps and alleys that lead down to the quays and estuary. Visitors can enjoy browsing around the array of shops, restaurants and pubs and sampling the local seafood specialities. The town hosts an annual regatta, and sailing enthusiasts can take advantage of boat hire and a sailing school. In May each year, the renowned Daphne du Maurier Festival of Arts and Literature is held in Fowey and St Austell Bay, celebrating the life and works of the author and the association of her work with Cornwall and Fowey. The delightful fishing port of Polperro is well worth a visit, with its whitewashed cottages lining narrow alleys and an assortment of shops selling local crafts and freshly-caught seafood. Not to be missed by any visitor to Cornwall is a visit to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the educational Eden Project.
Sea fishing, diving, sailing, kayaking, dolphin spotting and river trips can all be arranged in the town. Shops 500 yards, pub ¾ mile.

Lovely place to stay, tv in main bedroom did not work well, window did not shut properly, second bedroom blind broken, not ideal for those who can not walk too far. Pool was too cold to use but a lovely addition.

Quality of property did not feel as good as other properties we have booked at similar prices. The Penhouse gave a superior image and expectation that the property did not live up to. Disappointed with detail, many lightbulb so we're out and not working, TVs did not work and items were heavily worn giving a tired look. Dishwasher did not fit into the kitchen properly so the plinth fell away when in use, this problem had clearly been evident for some time. Velux blinds had numerous dead flies, which had clearly been there some time. Sinks particularly did not have working plugs in the master bedroom. The attention to detail expected with the standard of property was poor.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: Thank you for your feedback, it helps us maintain the standard of the apartment. I apologise for the failed bulbs and the dishwasher plinth - both these issues have been rectified, as has the sink plug. As a result of your comment we have instigated a new regime to ensure that the Velux blinds are checked at each changeover, replaced the existing halogen bulbs with LEDs and we are replacing both the bedroom TVs. Once again thanks for your comments, we hope to welcome you again in the future

Obviously we enjoyed our holiday as we added an extra night. For your information some things that need sorted: 4 lights in kitchen didn't work the kitchen fan extractor didn't seem to work the second en suite extra fan didn't work batteries missing from some devices it was getting warmer and almost too hot at night for summer months needs a fan or 2. These are not complaints just some observations.

Superb apartment that is very spacious. All conveniences of home. The pool is a real bonus no matter what the weather. The water was a very comfortable temperature. I did not understand some of the comments that were left in the comments book in the apartment by previous visitors. This is a self catering holiday so you should not expect things that you get in a hotel such as toiletries. Take your own soap and shampoo and your all set. I think the best recommendation I could give is to say that we would definitely return to the penthouse at Carnethic House. As for the location it is perfect for a visit to Cornwall, all of the main resorts and attractions are within easy travelling distances. However, if it is your first visit to Cornwall plan for your journey to take a little longer as it is nearly all A / B roads. 5 stars from us.
