What a beautiful and comfortable home away from home for us (2 adults and a 4 year old). This historic cottage is set in absolutely beautiful grounds and was the perfect getaway for a week away. It was very well equipped and John and Sue were truly lovely and so very helpful in showing us around the place. It was a very comfortable base for touring the cotswolds - must sees are the Cotswolds distillery, the wildlife park and also visit Painswick church and village itself. The fire was perfect for chilly evenings. I must admit i was a little nervous when I read a previous review about possible mice, but I have to say I did not see or hear any sign of them (trust me, I checked!). The cottage was beautifully kept and clean. We had a wonderfully relaxing week and would most certainly return in future.

Excellent accommodation in beautiful grounds, I don't know how John does it! John and Sue were extremely helpful and provided some goodies to start us off. A beautiful cottage with pretty much all the mod cons. Wonderful Cotswold location ... Butchers Arms nearby is a must.

Had the best time at Capp Mill. Our hosts we're welcoming and friendly and were happy to have us enjoy their cottage. All the amenities were provided for a great stay. The cottage was very clean and homely. The gardens surrounding the cottage were immaculate. A litre of milk in the fridge, tea and coffee and even a packet of biscuits. Couldn't recommend this place more highly. The only negative was no wifi.

Response on behalf of the owner:- Thank you for your wonderful comments I’m glad you enjoyed your stay, but there is Wi-Fi and there has been for a number of years.

Capp Mill is a beautifully located cottage. It is certainly one of the most scenic places we ever stayed at. From Painswick we could read mostly all places inside the Costwolds. We have see virtually all places. The best place we found at Painswick are certainly the gardens. The couple owning the place are very sympathetic and we enjoyed the talk a lot.

one of the best cottages we've stayed at in a lovely setting on a stream surrounded by lovely gardens. very helpful owners. big enough for 2 adults and 2 children. bear in mind it is a 400 yo property so hasn't got all mod cons but it is full of character. we loved it but our son wasn't keen on the spiders and mice on the top floor.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feed-back, we are pleased that you enjoyed your holiday with us. As you point out it is a very old property and I apologise regarding the spiders, the cleaner does do a thorough job every week. Regarding the mice, we suspect that this is squirrels on the roof as we have had no sign of mice in the property and we will keep an eye on this situation.

Capp Mill is a lovely place to stay. The mill is beautiful inside and out. The setting near the stream and surrounded by beautiful gardens is idyllic. There are lots of good walks nearby, and other things to do. And there is a choice of good pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance. The owners were really friendly and helpful. We had a really relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

I booked this cottage as a surprise week away for my husband's 60th birthday. We could not have been happier. We have stayed in a lot of holiday homes throughout the UK and given others 10/10 but this one exceeds those! The only noise you hear at the Mill is the sound of the water from the river that passes right outside - heaven! There was a lovely welcome pack on our arrival and fresh flowers presented throughout the Mill - how thoughtful (and much appreciated), thank you Sue & John. Everything you needed for a lovely stay was provided in the Mill. The bed in the main bedroom is really big and made for a good night's sleep - very comfortable. We used the woodburner in the main living area on a few occasions - it throws out so much heat you cannot possibly ever be cold in the Mill! I could go on "gushing" about the Mill all day(!) .... we would return in a heartbeat and cannot recommend this holiday home enough .... if you visit you will NOT be disappointed! We walked directly from the Mill to Sheepscombe on a couple of days - there are some stone steps leading directly from the Mill out on to a country footpath where you can then follow a path along the river, out on to minor roads, and straight to Sheepscombe - once there we had lunch at the Butchers Arms - highly recommended! We also did a couple of walks around Haresfield Beacon - a very short distance away and free parking - breathtaking views! We visited Woodchester Mansion a couple of days too (plenty of parking - £3.00 to park for the day)- although the Mansion itself was not yet open to the public for the season we actually went for the walking element - again, it was so lovely here and very peaceful .... we even had goes on the swings, zip wire, see-saw etc that are dotted about on one of the trails! We really did not want to go home - and can only say a massive thank you to Sue & John for opening up this lovely Mill to the public to appreciate! All the best for the future to you both!
