The islands are renowned for their magnificent clean, white sandy beaches which are usually deserted. Historical sites to visit include Callanish Standing Stones, St Clements Church, the Iron Age settlement at Bosta, or one of the Old Blackhouses. Birdwatching, fishing, cycling, surfing, sailing and walking are available locally. The bustling town of Stornoway is only 26 miles away. Shop 10 miles, pub and restaurant 16 miles.

    Lovely stay at the cottage , needs to be updated kitchen and downstairs bedroom need some attention , rusty utensils in the kitchen and the cooker is from 1960s very retro . Lovely location

    A bit out of the way for some people but that's actually what we wanted. The welcome wine and biscuits were a nice touch. It would have been helpful if there was fuel for the fire or a reminder to get some before Sunday!! However plenty of other heat sources so it wasn't cold at all. Mobile signal & therefore Wi-Fi was almost non existent. Cosy living room with ample bed linen, storage, kitchen equipment (don't think there was a bread knife though) and lovely modern looking bathroom (occasional smell from sanitation system). Overall we loved it & would come back.

    Stunning cottage every thing was perfect, immaculately clean. The owners have gone the extra mile there is every thing you could need, the welcome gift was a lovely thoughtful idea. The cottage is so big and spacious. I can't recommend this place highly enough we absolutely adore this place thank you so much for a wonderful holiday.

    Intermittent smell from the septic tank depending upon the wind direction which pervaded the house if the windows were left open. A note pointing this out in the visitors book earlier in the summer had also pointed in out, said that the owner had done something, but obviously an unresolved issue. Kitchen equipment a bit basic, none of the kitchen knifes were sharp enough to realistically use. Nice location, but no outlook from the house.

    Response on behalf of the owner: I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at Ceberfeidh. The comment in the guestbook was referring to a smell from the bathroom. I stayed in my cottage just for the first two weeks in September and called the plumber, who identified a “soapy smell.” On further investigation he discovered the shower had a small leak under the bathroom, which he repaired, and the smell dissipated within a few days. Of course with the correct wind direction, and the right conditions there is a chance of the septic tank odour, and I am sorry if you experienced this, even though the tank is treated every month.

    We had a wonderful relaxing week at this lovely cottage. The only problem we had was finding it in the dark! The house name was hidden by a bush and the surrounding house names were not clearly visible. Don't go by house numbers as they are actually in order of when they were built! We were delighted when we got up in the morning with our fabulous view. Would definitely go back

    We enjoyed out stay in Lewis but we had one complaint. There appeared to be a septic tank in the grass at the front of the house which sometimes gave off an unpleasant smell which seemed to permeate into the bathroom and the hallway.

    A great place to relax and use as a base to explore the Isles of Lewis and Harris. A traditional old building which was comfortable and well equipped. Fenced off garden was great for our dog too. Amenities were sparse but that's the nature of where you are. It didn't spoil the enjoyment of our holiday though. Everyone we came across were very friendly and the scenery although stark was extremely beautiful too. Would definitely visit again.

    A warm and cosy cottage but not really suitable to sit 6 adults. Kitchen poorly equipped especially as you are a long way from shops and restaurants .Beautiful village great wild life stunning views and friendly local people.

As you haven’t said why Caberfeidh isn’t really suitable for 6 people, it’s difficult to comment on, other than say the cottage is equipped for up to 6 people in accordance with Wyndham’s stringent requirements. It’s also difficult to comment on “kitchen poorly equipped especially as you are a long way from the shops and restaurants.” Therefore, I can only assume you mean poorly stocked, and because the website description states the closest shop is 10 miles away, it sounds like you expect the kitchen to be stocked with food! This score is not in line with our other scores. The score before this review is a 9 and the score after this review is a 10. Speaks for itself.
