Welsh Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above..

Description

Situated on a working farm, this modern barn conversion enjoys its own hot tub and lies close to many attractions and amenities.

These 3 beautiful and spacious barn conversions are set on a working sheep and beef farm, and each property has its own private hot tub. The farm itself has 140 acres, and the farmland links up to the Ystwyth Cycle Trail which is over 16 miles long. The interiors of the properties have vaulted ceilings, modern lighting, and furnished with leather sofas and wood-burning stoves, each with a hot tub available. All 3 properties (refs OA5, OA6 and OA7) can be booked together to form one large house sleeping 12, and they all have interconnecting doors which can be opened up. There is also the option of taking a horse on holiday, the farm has 6 loose boxes and a paddock which can be made available. Located near Tregaron, a small Welsh-speaking market town where guests can visit the famous Rhiannon Welsh Gold Centre that offers beautiful gifts and a fantastic art gallery. Tregaron is also famous for its trotting races, which are actually held here at Dolyrychain Farm on the Sunday following the May bank holiday and also over the August bank holiday weekend each year. The event is the largest of its kind and attracts over 10,000 visitors. This is a haven for walkers and cyclists with the Cambrian Mountains at the foot of the farm and the panoramic Pumlumon Mountains to the north. Visit the university town of Aberystwyth, home of the National Library of Wales, take a walk on the promenade or even catch the electric cliff railway on Construction Hill. For a magical day out take the narrow gauge railway from Aberystwyth to the heart of the Pumlumon Mountains where the destination will be the world famous Devils Bridge and Rheidol Falls. Ideal for fishing, as there is private fly fishing 2 miles away, as well as other fishing venues close by. Shop and pub 1 mile.

We had a wonderful stay thank you once we eventually found it. The directions on the website need to be changed as not that helpful. The only reason why we wouldn't possibly stay again was because the back garden area wasn't very private. I would've preferred a gate enclosing the hot tub off so we could leave the back door open for our pooch and enjoy our hot tub without the worry of someone walking passed. Mr and Mrs Davies are lovely people and their cottages are exquisite

Everything about the holiday was excellent, cottages well placed for driving to all the local attractions. We enjoyed days out at Devils bridge/waterfall trail, national parks and nature reserves, butterfly house, rheidol resivoir trail. The day out in Aberystwyth was lovely riding the cliff railway to the top of the hill gives views across cardigan bay offering plenty of photo opportunities. Only regret is not riding the Rheidol valley steam railway we just run out of time the railway seemed the ideal way too take in a lot of scenery and gives time too enjoy Devils bridge before returning too Aberystwyth, if I was to return it would definitely be top of my list of things to do :). Returning too the cottage of an evening was a joy the cottages where well equipped with everything catered for. We would unwind with a glass or two of wine enjoying the hot tub and having a bbq. dining al fresco on the patio taking in the views of the hills and fields around the cottage.

The lodge was very nice and well appointed and the location was beautiful. The hot tub is a big plus but some minor improvements would make it even better. Not much but hooks to hang items in the shower room and same upstairs on the mezzanine bedroom. Not much to highlight but it's the finer details that count in a five star property. I would still return as it's a lovely setting and anyone who hasn't visited this part of wales should. Scenery overload in every direction.

Absolutely surreal views and down to earth owners who are happy to help wherever possible, including free lifts to and from the pub. The hot tub is well maintained and so is the cottage!
