Description

Just 6 miles to Aberaeron, the property is located in a superb area with many attractions suitable for all ages.

Bwlch Y Person Barns are beautiful conversions of traditions Welsh long barns. Located in a tranquil setting surrounded by rolling countryside, these wonderful properties boast character, charm and all the comforts for the perfect countryside holiday with a resident barn owl in the grounds. Close to the borders of both mid and south Wales, these very comfortable properties provide perfect holiday accommodation. The four cottages, Cartws (ref. OH3), Stabl (ref. OH4), Beudy Bach(ref. OH5) and Beudy (OH2) form a right angle shape with parking in front, with lovely views across the countryside and all have their own terraces with furniture. Families will appreciate the separate recreational area with football posts and nets, picnic bench and table set away from the cottages. For added enjoyment, two of the cottages feature their own private hot tubs. Both Beudy Bach and Beudy have hot tubs at the rear of the cottages on their enclosed patios.
All are ideally placed for exploring the dramatic and truly scenic Ceredigion coastline. The picturesque and colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron is only 6 miles away where there is a selection of interesting independent shops and a great choice of restaurants and eateries including, fish and chips, ice cream parlour and fine dining. The National Trust house and gardens of Llanerchaeron are 4 miles away and from here there’s a delightful level pedestrian country footpath, suitable for bikes, pushchairs or wheelchairs, which leads into Aberaeron. Pretty New Quay with boats bobbing about in the harbour is just a few miles further on, and is definitely worth a visit. You must look out for the resident pods of bottlenose dolphins seen in the bay on an almost daily basis! Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

We were very suprised at the amount of effort and thought that had gone into the cottage,we loved everything and especially the welcome hamper, what a wonderful thought. It was luxurious and peaceful, just what we needed so a big fat "thank you "to wynne and her husband for the lovely place they have provided.we will definitely be booking again!

Originally booked for 6 adults for a bank holiday break, ended up with 4 adults staying. On arrival (two of us arrived first) we were met by the owners who opened the door of barn 3 and let us in to the property. It wasn't the same barn as in our booking picture but it was barn 3 (as per our booking) so we assumed that it was the right barn. They seemed very friendly and we noted that we had travelled from Swansea. Some time later after we had unpacked clothes food etc for the week, a gentleman who had also booked to stay arrived and was looking for barn 4. After calling the owner he told us we were in the wrong property. We then had a not so friendly call from the owner telling us we had to move, the words 'get out' were not explicitly used but she was very rude. As both properties were to sleep 6 and had pretty much the same space it seemed unnecessary, especially as the owner had opened the door and shown us into the property but we moved as the people who had turned but insisted that they wanted what they had booked. Note to owner - turning up with a cheap bottle of wine and apologising to the people who had not had to repack all of their luggage and empty the cupboards / fridge while we repacked and moved everything to barn 2 (even though our booking stated 3!) is not good customer service. Rude owners and nonsense numbering aside (1,2,3,4 seems quite simple but obviously not in this case), the accommodation is very nicely refurbished. The property however is not designed to comfortably accommodate 6 adults so it is fortunate that there were only 4 for us. The lounge furniture is not comfortable and very small. The kitchen is well equipped but far too small to comfortably cook a meal unless you're in there on your own. The fridge and freezer capacity is inadequate and the whole kitchen area could have been better designed to accommodate the number the barn is supposed to accommodate. The outside space is good and the views are beautiful. The are 2 pubs within walking distance - about 1 1/2 miles. One was shut and the other was not very clean or appealing so it was only one walk into the village. As a base it is a good location and as we had intended to have days out and quiet evenings it worked for us. We did cut our stay short as our dog was taken ill and in hind sight this is more of a long weekend place that a week away. We would not return based on the attitude of the owners who would do well to renumber their barns and reconsider their approach to customer service and have a check in process (ask names, check booking, instead of rudeness when you mess it up)

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are saddened by your review as we were very accommodating to you. When you arrived we happened to be on site. As you had parked outside a cottage we presumed it was the cottage you had booked. Your husband asked what the key code was and we gave the code to the cottage. We did not open the door for you to go into the cottage. In hindsight we should have left you to open the key safe with the code we had emailed you for the cottage you had booked, we would then have realised that you were in the wrong cottage. All of our cottages are different in style and décor; therefore you would have noticed upon arrival that the cottage which you had parked outside was not the same as the one you had booked. When you telephoned us for the key code prior to arrival you had stated that the reason you booked the cottage was for the character outside the ‘Arch’ and that you liked the décor of the bedrooms considering these comments you would have noticed that the property was not the one you had booked. As many of our bookings are made with more than one couple accommodating a cottage, we do not have everyone’s name. The numbers on the door are because we have 4 cottages. The booking reference are the numbers which the agency have provided for the cottages, your reference was OH3 - there is no mention of the cottage being cottage no 3. I was not rude to you on the phone when I asked you to move to the cottage you had booked. We offered to help you move your belongings from the cottage to the one you had booked. I came straight down to see you and I asked again if you needed any help. I apologised to everyone who was outside the cottages. The family that had booked the cottage you had to vacate were very kind and understanding. When we visited you a couple of days later and asked if everything was ok, you said yes fine. In future we will endeavour to avoid this misunderstanding happening. Future guests please read all the reviews to the cottage and not base your decision on one unhappy understanding.

A beautiful cottage and really well equipped. The welcome pack was delicious! The only slight negative is that it is a little isolated in terms of access to a shop/pub etc, but, the flip side of that is that it's in stunning surroundings and is wonderfully peaceful. We'd definitely visit again!

Wonderful cottage the amenities were excellent and the owners were friendly and helpful and nothing too much trouble. Despite the weather we were able to fill our time visiting many places. We would love to go back again and would highly recommend it to anyone

The cottage was lovely but miles from anywhere. The rooms upstairs have sloping ceilings ... I'm not very tall but kept banging my head and don't get me started about trying to shower. The wifi was very slow which made work difficult and the Tv was strange 🤔🤔 The local pub doesn't serve food every evening which is a pain as it was a selling point when booking.
