This single-storey property is hidden away within truly magnificent and peaceful scenery, yet just 4 miles from Stirling.

Stunning scenery

Only 4 miles from the historic city of Stirling, yet hidden away in a truly magnificent and peaceful rural scenery means a perfect location for year-round holidays. Osprey Hideaways overlooks the owners’ own 120-acre loch where ospreys can be seen feeding most days in season. 300ft high cliffs frame the far side of the water, making the views genuinely stunning. All the cottages are furnished to a very high boutique standard and provide excellent accommodation for couples or family groups. A welcome pack is provided including a bottle of bubbly so that you can relax as soon as you arrive. There is also lovely linen, towels, bathrobes - and even slippers! To top this off is the honesty room where you can borrow books, a huge selection of DVDs, games, toys and visitor information. The owners live on site and are there to help as much (or as little!) as you want.

Each cottage has been named after birds that are regularly seen flying overhead, and are perfectly located to enjoy the best of both worlds at any time of the year - the peace of the countryside and the amenities and activities of the city. As well as being only 4 miles from Stirling city centre, it’s only 5 miles to the motorway junction for surprisingly quick journey times to Edinburgh, Perth and Glasgow and all their facilities. Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park is 20 miles away and the mountains to the north or the beautiful sea lochs to the west are all within a 2 hour drive. There are numerous golf courses locally and even the Gleneagles course is only 35 minutes’ away. For walks the choice is endless and one of the best cliff-top walks in central Scotland starts right at the cottages! Stirling is a vibrant but compact university city offering wonderful attractions, including an incredible castle, the amazing Wallace Monument, the historic Church of the Holy Rude and even ghost tours. There are restaurants to suit all tastes, swimming pools, sport centres, multiplex cinema, theatre, museum, pubs and shops. The best bit is that Stirling is very much a year round destination. The perfect place for the perfect holiday! Shops, pubs and restaurants 4 miles.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen. 2 bedrooms: 1 double (5ft) with en-suite shower room and toilet, 1 twin. Bathroom with bath, shower cubicle, shower attachment and toilet.

From the moment we arrived we knew this was going to be a fabulous cottage. The views, the lambs and calves outside our window, the neat and tidy grounds everything was perfect - and that was before we even got into the cottage! Inside the layout was ideal for a holiday let with lots of light making it look even bigger than it was. Everywhere was clean and tidy and the kitchen was very well equipped and maintained. A nice touch was the welcome pack of bread, milk, cheese and wine. This was especially useful as we had come up by train and had packed, for us, light. The soft towels, robes and slippers were another nice touch. Bed was cosy and there was plenty of hot water. The owners were friendly, helpful and didn't laugh too hard when I couldn't shut a window. They had lots of advice about where to go and where to eat. The Honesty Room contains a vast collection of DVDs and Blue-Rays as well as books, maps and local guides. We have been self-catering for over twenty years, usually booking two cottages a year. This without doubt is one of the top three we have visited. The only gripe I have, and it is a VERY minor one is that there is nowhere to eat/drink in easy walking distance but when you stay in such a perfect cottage you can't have everything! Magic cottage, stunning views and warm, welcoming hosts.

Response on behalf of the owner; I'm glad to hear you had a great time at Buzzard Cottage even if the rains really did come. Major flooding meant many of the local roads were impassable but we got you back eventually! All part of the service. I look forward to welcoming you back in the future - we'll just try for better weather!

This is most definitely the best self catering accommodation we have stayed in. There was everything you could have possibly wanted and our girls loved the Honesty Room - a great idea ! The setting is beautiful and my husband enjoyed being able to fish. The welcome pack was much appreciated and enjoyed! We can't praise this accommodation enough !

We travelled the short distance from Edinburgh to stay here and though it's only 10 minutes from the M9 it felt quiet and secluded. We have two under-5s and they loved the space, the sheep/cows in the fields next door and the 'honesty room' which was full of DVDs and toys etc. George made us very welcome and there were some nice touches in the house on arrival. We would definitely consider staying again.
