A beautiful cottage. Spotless and warm on our arrival, even a cheeky bottle of wine left and chocolates to greet us. Spacious with plenty of room for a family of six. A great time spent over Christmas and new year.

The Cottage was clean, and very comfortable, and we enjoyed the Log/Coal fire on an evening. Logs and kindling were kindly provided which lasted two evenings. There was ample parking space for our two cars. The location was a bit isolated, and I was slightly disappointed that although in the heart of the Lake District, there was nowhere to walk my dog. Narrow footpaths, and fast traffic, made it a daunting experience outside of the garden, which, thankfully was just about adequate. In this day and age we found a week without "wifi" a bit of an inconvenience. We were aware that this service was not provided, and thought nothing of it, however, we did miss it more then we thought we would. On the whole we were delighted with our stay, and will definitely consider Burrow House in the future. If "wifi" were to be available we would almost certainly be back. Thank you to the Proprietor for ensuring everything was up to a decent standard.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments and we're glad you enjoyed your stay at Burrow House. I know that a lot of our guests use the Outward Bound Centre next door from the house to walk their dogs but also immediately across the road from the house there is a public footpath to Cartmel Fell via Birks Road which leads to an open and wooded area which makes it ideal for dogs. Since you stayed, we've upgraded the property in last 2 weeks and we hope that you stay with us again in the future.

A good location and well equipped. Not a child friendly property for young children, as the stairs are steep and no gate is available. The hot water on an electric meter was a strange throw-back to the 70's but not an issue.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We're glad you enjoyed your stay at Burrow House. Just to respond to your comment about electric coin meter; this is for immersion heater only but there is unlimited hot water in the kitchen and toilet, and of course the electric shower. Unfortunately we had to install the meter as some guests were leaving the immersion heating on for the whole week. If you stay with us again, please do ask and we will be able to supply a removable stair gate for your convenience.

Burrow House was a lovely surprise, very spacious and we thought that the photos really don't do it justice. It was very clean and lots of character. The garden was a real bonus too, great for our three children to enjoy and gets the sun all day. Could perhaps benefit from wifi, but thats not a big deal in our opinion. Really enjoyed the quirkiness of the original bedroom floor! Would definitely stay here again.

Lovely property, but would really benefit from WIFI as there is no mobile phone reception either.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your nice review and we hope you will come and stay at Burrow House again. Unfortunately mobile reception is variable and patchy in most of the Lake District but Vodaphone is the best mobile provider for our area.
