Welcome Cottages

With 18 acres of parkland to explore and walks from the door this lovely cottage is ideal for a country break.

Nestled in the grounds of Buntingsdale Hall, this cosy cottage is ideal for couples and small families looking for a relaxing break. This detached cottage has its own private entrance and outdoor area, with walks starting from the door. Guests can also benefit from shared access to the games room (situated in the main house), with a full-sized snooker table, table tennis and darts allowing for friendly competition in front of a roaring fire.
Built in 1695 by Bulkeley Mackworth on the site of a much older house, set in a prominent location reached by a ¾ mile long private drive and set within 18 acres of parkland, Buntingsdale Hall is a Queen Anne mansion that has been restored with character and style. Still lived in by the family who built the house, Buntingsdale is mentioned in the Doomsday Book, and other famous names connected with the manor include Lady Godiva of Coventry and Peter Bulkely, who founded the town of Concord in America.
Within the grounds lies a large lake and river frontage, where private coarse fishing and carp and trout fishing from a jetty on the lake is available, with basic equipment provided. There is also rough shooting available, (duck, licence required) and private snowdrop, daffodil and bluebell woods in season, with badgers and buzzards. Tours of the hall are available (by arrangement with the owner), including the Victorian icehouse and part tunnels, weather permitting. There is a large formal Georgian dining room and drawing room with painted ceiling and fireplace for hire, with two large open fires in the drawing room and games room.
The neighbouring community farm, 3 miles, has plenty of amenities including a restaurant, tea room, shop, organic butchers shop, walking trails, events and children’s activities. Home of gingerbread, the attractive town of Market Drayton was once famed for its Damson Fairs, and many Draytonians continue the tradition with damson feasts each autumn. Keen walkers can follow the trails of the famous Clive of India, or the unusual bloodthirsty ‘Murder and Mayhem’ track, whilst a wild animal trail offers a rather more sedate option for the children! Market Drayton is the ideal base for touring Stoke-on-Trent and the Potteries, Ironbridge, Shrewsbury and North Wales. The Shropshire Union Canal winds its way close to the town, its tow paths, flights of locks and breathtaking aqueduct are well worth a visit. Nearby you can find award-winning gardens, such as Hodnet, Wollerton Old Hall and Hawkstone Park, with its golf course and unique landscape of caves, woodland and follies. Horse riding and golf are nearby. Shops, shopping centre as well as pub and restaurant 2 miles.
