The cottage is small but comfortable and the owners are on hand but leave you to yourselves. The location is remote which can be off-putting and the cottage can be dark in the evenings with plenty of side lighting but not much in the centre of the room. The main bedroom has a low ceiling which does involve a lot of bending to get in and out. But that's the downside. On the upside is spectacular scenery, a good local pub with good food. Plenty of local attractions a short ( half-hour ) drive away and plenty more with an hour's drive. A good restaurant/hotel in Llandovery. Very good coffee shop and range of shops. I loved it, my wife would prefer something less remote and better lit. If you want a converted farm labourer's cottage and can put up with some limitations then this could be ideal.

The cottage was charming and full of character with a lovely wood burning stove to take the chill off in the evenings. The hosts were warm and welcoming and we appreciated the little touches left in the cottage, logs, flowers, essential toiletries and lovely welsh cakes! It was well located for us to visit coastal areas such as Aberporth, Mwnt and New Quay, all beautiful coastlines which the dogs fully appreciated! A great cottage for a short break with pets however the cramped accommodation upstairs is a bit of a challenge for a longer stay but overall a great week in a lovely part of Wales.

We felt that the owners was keeping an eye on us to see if we left the dogs alone and if we cleaned up the mess from the garden , did not like the sloping sealing in the main bedroom.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner:- The notice about taking pets on holiday is provided to us by Cottages.com with whom you booked our cottage. This information is clearly displayed both in the booking terms on Cottages.com website and in a very prominent position in our cottage. It states that whilst the property welcomes pets, dogs must not be allowed on furniture, upstairs in the bedrooms and must never be left unattended in the property. Unfortunately these conditions were not adhered to and as a result, we had cause to speak to you about it. Your dogs began barking and whining so loudly when they were left alone on two separate occasions, that I had cause to check on their welfare. Both dogs were clearly very distressed and unsettled by the guests’ absence and were also repeatedly jumping on and off one of the settees. These rules with regard to dogs apply to the majority of holiday properties unless otherwise stated and are certainly not unique to our property. Dogs may often become distressed being left alone in a strange location and may do damage to the property as a result. This is not only unfair to the dogs in question but also to owners who take great pride in presenting their property in excellent order and have to spend much longer cleaning the property ready for the next guests' arrival as any damage caused may be difficult to rectify within this limited time. We leave a good supply of bags in the property as well a clearly labelled receptacle to place them in and assume that pet owners will be responsible for clearing up after their pets. With regard to your dislike of the sloping ceiling upstairs, most of our guests love the traditional nature of our 18th century cottage and understand that it is very much part of its charm. The many wonderful comments left in our Visitors Book bears this out.
