The cottage was beautifully renovated, we loved the location, a very steep track to get to it but worth it. Lots of nice walks from the cottage and we really enjoyed our break there. The welcome pack was a very nice touch and much appreciated. We did miss wifi, and unfortunately thought the cottage could do with a good clean.

Beautiful place that was very well maintained. Property had really good quality oak furniture that adds to the feel of the place. Patio was excellent and used every day, partly shaded if you tire of the heat. Think i would invest in better quality outside furniture, although what was provided did the job. Very spacious rooms and kept minimal with no fussy ornaments or frilly bits! Plenty of windows for light and breeze...which was needed in the heatwave we had. Needs better pillows and sofa cushions otherwise it was near perfect!! The pub and shop i think are on the campsite...dont think you could go there without a car.

Beautiful place but had to wash a lot of the kitchen items before I used them. The scissors were broken and there weren't enough glasses. Minor issues really but I got the impression it needed a bit more care on changeover. I.e. The upstairs rug smelt of dog urine so we had to roll it up for the duration of the stay and the cushions on the sofa were grubby. WiFi would have been useful as we wanted to plan days out but couldn't get a phone or wifi signal.

FANTASTIC - what a find! We had a wonderful 5 night stay here in early March. The house is stunning, a real home from home. It is certainly remote, up a small track with a hairpin bend at the top but if that's what you're after this is the perfect stay. Overlooks a large caravan park which was empty in March meaning lots of peace and quiet, may be noisier in summer season. We enjoyed walks to the beach and across the headland, the train ride from Machynlleth to Barmouth (fantastic beach), tried to do the walk around Devils Bridge but unfortunately it was closed on the day we went (the downside of off-season). When we arrived at the house there was milk, bread and welsh-cakes - a lovely touch much appreciated. There is a local Nisa not more than a 10minute drive away but we wouldn't say shops were walkable, just something to bear in mind but there is a fridge-freezer so no problem keeping food fresh. There is no wifi, but the cottage is advertised this way and it was what we wanted. Would definitely stay again and have already recommended to family and friends.

Well-presented character cottage with a view of the countryside, over a caravan park! Comfortable quiet and cosy but missing a few essentials for mainly self-caterers like ourselves! 15 year old son not impressed by lack of Internet and mobile signal, so factor this in if planning to stay here. The road to the cottage is narrow but tarmac'd, we had no problem in a fwd Audi A6 apart from needing a 3-point turn at a hairpin! Overall would recommend for a get-away-from -it-all break.

Great place, modern renovation that retains the character of the building. Less than 5 minutes from Aberystwyth, £5 taxi ride what's not to like. lovely touches by the owner Welsh cakes, milk and bread and butter waiting for us, so thoughtful. I would 100% recommend this beautiful cottage, nicely tucked away from the stresses of the world.

Brynhyryd is a beautiful well appointed cottage that I would have scored 10 out of 10 for apart from location, which is quite remote and up a thin bendy track, that aside it feels luxurious inside with underfloor heating 2 bathrooms washing machine and dishwasher and wide screen tv, theres a great veranda off the lounge. Walking out of cottage up a steep hill is a nature reserve and down a steep hill in the other direction is clarach beach both walks quite strenuous. Its great that you can take your dogs free of charge. There is no wifi and phone reception is very hit and miss, so it can feel a bit cut off. Parking is easy, and a welcome pack with bread butter and milk was a really nice touch. Overall if you like seclusion and total peace its a haven.
