Spacious and comfortable cottage with two good bathrooms and an "overspill" shower room. Excellent facilities and equipment. The "one-night's" worth of coal and logs did us for three nights with some still left! Bikes had to be stored in the utlity shower room as there isn't room in the lean-to (cleaned first of course). Covered area outside is a bit ugly but a lovely sun trap if it's shining! Fair way from Coniston but using the old rail track behind the property enables road-free walking if you need to leave the car behind. Two nice pubs in the village both serve great food although the nearest one isn't as child friendly as the Wilson Arms. Village store stocks basic essentials and succeeds as a small deli. Easy access to all southern Lakes areas (Langdales, Ambleside and Grasmere) and The Old Man can be climbed from the front door, albeit with a bit of a hike. The North Face bike trail at Grizedale is easily accessed from here and there are several nice walks only a few miles away, Tarn Hows (just north of Coniston) being particularly enjoyable. Great base in a superb area. We would definitely stay at Brookfield again. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful time at Brookfield. The views from every window are beautiful, the house is furnished to a high standard and spotlessly clean. We'd thoroughly recommend staying.

The property was perfect for families and walkers. Unfortunately we took our elderly parents and the location and windy lines were not suitable.

Brookfield may not be the prettiest cottage but it was well located and very comfortable. No complaints at all.

Excellent. The only reason I gave it 9 for equipment was because the oven took rather a long time to get anything hot but we managed ok and it's a minor quibble really. Everything else perfect. really comfortable, warm and spacious. I didn't expect to be able to walk down to the water itself with young children but you can (just!), that's how good the location is. 2 good pubs on the doorstep and plenty more pubs and shops in Coniston itself.

Lovely cottage with a local shop and pub nearby. Good location for Coniston, Ambleside and Windermere. Views superb with fields all round. It is close to a road at the front though which can make it difficult to walk along with no pavement.

Best cottage we've every stayed in. Within walking distance of 2 very good pubs, both serving food and real ale. Well located to visit the towns and villages around Coniston and Windermere. Has a large garden and is set back far enough from the road that you hardly hear any traffic. The rooms are very clean and all are very spacious especially the lounge where you can easily seat 8 people in comfort. The kitchen is well appointed and has an Aga, if you want to test your cooking skills but there's also a modern oven/hob if you want something more precise. There's a car port around the back of the property where we locked our bikes overnight, with no problem. It really is a great base to walk or cycle from and we'd recommend it to anyone.

We had a lovely week at Brookfield which is a really well equipped, beautifully kept house. We walked down to Coniston Lake from the house and climbed the Old Man (but starting a bit further up). There are two pubs within walking distance. The house has a lovely big garden too and great views.

Extremely well appointed cottage with good quality furniture and equipment, presented beautifully. Quiet location with sheep as your neighbours. One slight disappointment was the extra shower room not being in the main body of the house. However, the en suite shower was excellent. Loads of hot water always available. During a cold May week, the central heating and WiFi were really appreciated.
