Just 5 miles from the attractive Victorian spa town of Llandrindod Wells and Rhayader’s spectacular red kite feeding station, these three warm and comfortable lodges – each of which boast its own blissful hot tub offering wonderful views – all enjoy a peaceful working farm setting. A nearby river offers informal angling and, for more serious fishing, the beautiful Elan Valley with its stunning reservoirs is the area’s main attraction. Close to Glyndwr’s Way, the Cistercian Way and Offa’s Dyke, this is wonderful walking, mountain biking and bird watching country, and an indoor play barn and adventure park, small breeds farm, indoor activity centre, cycle hire and pony trekking are among nearby delights. Rhayader is also home to the Welsh Royal Crystal factory, whilst Hereford’s Cathedral with its famous chained library and Mappa Mundi draws visitors from all over the world as does the nearby ‘book town’ of Hay-on-Wye. Dolphin spotting in Cardigan Bay and the golden sands of Aberdovey are easily within a day trip. There is a good selection of eating places in the area. Shop 3 miles, pub 1.5 miles.

Some attention is required to the cottage itself. The floor is collapsing in the kitchen so the table and worktops fall down hill. Pictures, bed linen etc all clean but extremely dated. Taps fixed back to front and kitchen hot tap only dribbles a bit of hot so thankfully there is a dishwasher. toilets rock as they are not fixed to the floor. Bathroom vinyl is very badly wet stained and a bit grotty. Saying all this to be useful not moaning as we had a lovely holiday for the price (out of season) but wouldn’t pay peak season price without a refurb on necessary points. I am a designer in the construction industry so pay attention to bad points. I hope it is taken as constructive criticism.

Lovely cottage, peaceful with beautiful views. The hot tub was fantastic. Wonderful watching the Red kite's flying over head.

Had a great time at the cottage despite the weather (Storm Doris). It was cosy and warm with plenty of charm and comfort. It was very isolated (which is what we wanted) and was great for reading, writing and getting away from everything. The hot tub was a great addition and perfect for the evening after lots of walking. The bathroom was acceptable and the bed was comfy enough for us. Nicola (the owner) was really welcoming and very helpful. Overall, we had a great time there and would consider coming back again (in warmer weather).

Excellent cottage style lodge with lovely hot tub and surrounded by fields in the middle of no where. Loved staying here, was warm and comfortable and we managed a whole christmas dinner there with no problems. Well equipped and lots to see and do locally.
