We loved the cottage, we dropped the comfort and equipment down to a 9 as we struggled with the rayburn, although looks nice and fits in with the cottage, would prefer more modern heating. The photo's don't do the cottage justice, it was better than expected and the size of the cottage was a surprise. (bigger than expected) The garden is beautiful, we have 2 young children and 2 dogs, and they loved being in the garden as it was so big. It would have been slightly more relaxing for us if the brook had more fencing/barrier, as we were concerned the dogs could have crossed and got in with the sheep. However the cottage does advertise the brook at the bottom of the garden. We had no issues with the trains (complained about in previous reviews) as they are far enough away not to bother you, but the kids loved spotting them in the distance. We loved the fact that you are completely detached from any other property, the feeling of being right in the countryside is Brook Cottage's charm. There are two pubs close by, one in walking distance both are in the welcome book and we would highly recommend them. We are planning our next visit to the cottage, hopefully in the nicer weather to appreciate the full layout/charm of what Brook Cottage is all about.

Brook Cottage is a really beautiful, spacious and well furnished cottage. However, we chose the cottage because we could take our dog and I feel that this is not a suitable property to take a dog. There is a small brook that borders one side of the garden (which is stated in the description) but across the brook is a field full of sheep and a very large bull. The fence that should be between the brook and the field has been flattened by the bull and we didn't feel safe letting our dog into the garden with the bull just the other side of the brook. Also, the public footpaths in the vicinity of the cottage were often fenced off or inaccessible. This cottage is perfect as a family retreat, but not a good base if you have dogs and would like to be able to walk directly from the cottage.

Excellent cottage for family break. Great countryside location, so super dog walks. Sunday lunch at village pub was amazing. We all want to return very soon. Thank you to caretaker for excellent service prior to visit.

We were very happy with our stay. The pictures do not do this properly justice. A little out of the way but a perfect location for us. Would recommend this property for sure.

We had a fantastic holiday in Brook Cottage, 4 adults, one toddler and a dog, plenty of space for entertaining the extended local family too. Even in bleak min-November the cottage was perfect, with lovely wood-burners and the rayburn. The photos do not do this lovely cottage justice!! We would definitely book again :-)

This was the second time we've stayed at Brook Cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. There are not many other cottages that will allow you to stay for short breaks , so well done to Brook Cottage. It was very warm and cosy and the beds were extremely comfortable. We visited the local pub The Stapleton Arms, where the landlord and staff were very friendly and helpful, and the quality of their food was fantastic. They even cooked us a breakfast on the Sunday.

This is the second time we have stayed there, but as we have two small dogs and the regulations have changed to one dog only we will not be visiting again for practical reasons.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for coming to Brook Cottage again, we hope you had a pleasant stay. We noticed in your review you would you not return due to the restriction of one pet. Unfortunately this is an error on the Cottages 4 You website that we have now addressed. We do not have any restrictions on the number of pets allowed at Brook Cottage. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We hope you might consider coming to stay at Brook Cottage again.

The weather helped a lot to enjoy the garden. Our dogs loved to rest in the sun... and to listen to the birds and the sheep. We loved this romantic stay and the silence. A perfect resting place after visiting the important historical sites and cities in the neighbourhood (such as Stonehenge, Salisbury, Bath, Wells, Stourhead, Wilton, Cheddar, Glastonbury, etc., etc...)
