We enjoyed our time at Broadstone Cottage. Little things would have made a difference like wifi in the cottage and much better sound quality on the TV. These little things are just things that you come to expect it being 2017. Ideal location for exploring the round about areas as many interesting places a short drive away.

First impressions of this property are poor. The external paintwork is badly peeling and you have to put your shoulder to the front door to open it because of sticking. The kitchen windows were dirty and the back garden rather unkempt. The lounge smelt very musty (or was it cigarette smoke?) and the font window was painted in so we couldn't open it to ventilate the place. The settees in the lounge were uncomfortable (too soft) and the electric socket with the kettle in didn't work, so we had to move it to another. Having said that, the location is fine, the next door neighbours were friendly and the rest of the interior was clean and comfortable. The car parking space turned out to be the road outside, as the owners had an old banger parked in the back garden. There was very little information available about the house or area; for instance, when the bins were supposed to be emptied, when the shops were open or the mobile post office. The drawers in the lounge had a lot of rubbish in and were evidently not for our use. We got the impression that these were the sort of problems that were inevitable when the owners live 300 miles away and rely on a local caretaker for maintenance.

Response on behalf of the owner:- Thank you for your comments. The paintwork has now been completed refreshed on the exterior of the property. We had been waiting for a decorator to complete this work. The lawn is mown once every 2 weeks and is regularly kept tidy by our gardener. The property is a non-smoking property so there should not have been any smell of smoke in the property. The issue with the electric socked has been fixed and I do apologise about this issue. Had you notified us at the time, we would certainly have arranged for this to be fixed right away. It is true that I have a car parked in the back but there is certainly another space for our guests’ car. There is a folder full of information about the property and the area so I am sorry to hear that you could not find this information.
