Bride is a cosy haven for two - with a beautiful four poster bed and shared access to the pool and sauna!

"Set in glorious countryside... not far from the Jurassic Coast"

Lancombe Country Cottages are set in three acres of glorious Thomas Hardy country, in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in west Dorset, close to the famous World Heritage Jurassic Coast, including the Chesil Beach. The six holiday cottages converted from old barns are set around an attractive courtyard, now a communal lawned area, are all well finished and equipped and provide a relaxing retreat after a day out sightseeing.
All are named after local rivers, offer comfortable accommodation and can be booked individually or together, depending on party numbers. Unwind in the 3 acres of grounds, relax in the heated indoor swimming pool (open every day), perhaps enjoy a sauna, or on a fine day, chill out with a barbecue in a pleasant setting overlooking beautiful Dorset countryside. These properties have been awarded a Dorset Silver Tourism Award for 2015.
Within easy driving distance visitors can explore the stunning Chesil Beach and Jurassic Coast, from Weymouth to the picturesque seaside resort of Lyme Regis, with its harbour and famous Cobb. Enjoy the many little seaside resorts, spectacular scenic coastal walks, fishing, swimming, fossil hunting and attractions such as Abbotsbury Swannery (where the swans may be fed) and Sub-Tropical Gardens, and Bennetts Water Gardens.
There are many historic houses and gardens to visit including Athelhampon House and Gardens, and Kingston Maurward Gardens and Animal Park, as well as family attractions such as Bovington Tank Museum, Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, Monkey World at Wareham and the Sea Life Centre at Weymouth.
The bustling market and county town of Dorchester, 8 miles, with its 18th-century houses, shops, restaurants and market is worth a visit, as is Weymouth with its Georgian seafront, Blue Flag sandy beach and traditional seaside entertainment. Inland there is the famous Cerne Abbas Giant and the quaint historic abbey town of Sherborne. Enjoy golf, fishing, horse riding and go-karting locally. Convenience store on site. Shops and pubs 2 miles.

Open-plan beamed living/dining room and kitchen area with tiled floor. First floor: Double bedroom with four-poster bed. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

We were very pleased with our week spend in the cottage called 'Bride'. The owners were extremely pleasant and helpful. The cottage though small was ideal for the two of us. The only downside was that it was a bit isolated so a car is a necessary to travel to the local pubs and beaches.

Cottage very small and no instructions on using equipment. Found it too remote.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us as you felt the property was too remote. We are very clear in our advertising on both our agent's and our own website that we are a rural holiday complex; however, whilst it is lovely and relaxing, we are still in driving distance to many attractions, beaches and gardens. It is unfortunate that you were disappointed that there were no instructions for working the shower in the cottage, however, this is the first time we have had a guest encounter such an issue, so did not feel it necessary to provide instructions. However, you did call me on the Sunday morning and I helped you with this immediately. With regards to your comments on the cottage being small, it is a one bedroom cottage for a couple, and we are measured by Visit England on ease of space with occupancy. I have also noticed you scored us a 5 for cleanliness, which I find upsetting as we have a high level of cleanliness and I checked the property prior to your arrival. However, there is no comment for the reasons you feel that it did not meet your standard, so I am unable to investigate this or respond. Once again, it is a shame you did not feel you had a top class holiday with us, and I do hope you find another property in the future that meets your requirements.

The accommodation is in a lovely peaceful location and is well maintained with attractive garden and grounds bordering fields and would appeal to a varied age groups. Pets are also welcomed. We were made very welcome on arrival and for all of our stay. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The swimming pool water temperature is maintained at around 32 degrees which is great for relaxation. Toys and float aids are provided for young children too.
