Description

This well-located ground floor lodge with views of Loch Ness provides a cosy touring base.

Set on the edge of Fort Augustus, Bramble Lodge (ref 29508) and Rivendell Cottage (ref 26694) are in a peaceful location near Loch Ness. Bramble Lodge is a detached lodge with wonderful views across the fields towards Loch Ness, whilst Rivendell Cottage is a bright apartment occupying a wing of the owners house and with lovely views over the surrounding countryside towards the hills beyond. Located at the southern tip of Loch Ness, Fort Augustus is a lively and popular village with many amenities and is an excellent base for touring the Highlands. At the northern end of Loch Ness lies Inverness, the ‘capital’ of the Highlands with excellent shops and a theatre complex. Nevis Range Ski Centre at Fort William boasts Scotland’s only cable-car system and the World Championship Mountain Bike track. The area hosts a large number of outdoor activities including hill walking, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing, windsurfing and sailing. There are many distilleries, stunning castles, secluded glens and beautiful gardens to visit. Meander along the banks of the Caledonian Canal, or watch the boats navigate the locks. Boat trips on Loch Ness to see Urquhart Castle or to hunt for the Loch Ness monster can be arranged locally. Shop, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.

Bramble Cottage is like a Tardis (much bigger inside than it looks from the outside). Sheree provides everything you need in the kitchen, no need to take t-towels, dishcloths, dishwasher tablets, laundry powder or conditioner. Lovely towels in the bathrooms and a choice of ordinary or rain shower in each bathroom. The location is quiet away from the main road. It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk into the village, where you can get most of your shopping for meals depending upon what you want, or eat out at one of the local pubs/restaurants. Overall a great lodge and a great location.

A modern well equipped lodge having excellent uniterrupted views towards Loch Ness. Just one minor criticism the wash basin in the en-suite shower room is too small giving rise to a continual over-wet floor. Fort Augustus was also a bonus; it is an interesting town prettily situated on the Caledonian Canal at the Southern end of Loch Ness. We found it ideal as a base for walking the Great Glen Way.

Where do I start? What a place. I've visited the Highlands many times over the years and stayed in some beautiful places but this is this best I've stayed in. We stayed over Easter and it was perfect with beautiful weather. The owners are so lovely and the welcome pack with a wee dram and essentials was fantastic. With it being Easter they had even included an Easter egg for the children and teddy in the bedroom. The lodge was very clean, well equipped and an ideal base for visiting the various attractions in the area. If you are a stargazer then this is perfect for you. One night we sat on the decking area until the early hours and watched numerous shooting stars over Loch Ness. We loved the place that much we booked it again whilst we was there for the same time next year. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful lodge.
