Satisfactory but parking on the busy a5 outside not easy

Response on behalf of the owner: Thank you for your comments. We just wanted to confirm that there is parking for 2 cars outside the property and you access the property via a small country lane.

Lovely cottage that you can get to places from easily. Bed was very comfy. However, big downfall was WiFi signal. Could only get a signal standing outside, so could not stream films from now TV etc to chromecast in lounge. Also shower wasn't the greatest but we managed. Would stay again.

Cozy comfortable stable conversion. My two little dogs loved the enclosed garden. Couldn't wish for a cozier retreat near all Pembrokeshire coastline.

The dogs loved the enclosed garden. The cottage was very easy to warm up quickly. Was easy to dry wet clothes - important for Wales!

Upon arrival we were "greeted" by the owner, who welcomed us by stating "oh you have two dogs, what are they greyhounds?" Which to me was unusual, as two dogs are stated on the confirmation. She then proceeded to tell us about long walks we could take them on, so she seemed misinformed about greyhounds and how lazy they are! Then she pretty much left us to it, we did not see her again until Sunday. The cottage itself is really small, the kitchen, and garden are the best as they are the biggest. The kitchen to the living room has a big step up/down to, which needs to be advised as some dogs have problems with steps. The bedroom is too small, you can't walk around the bed itself, you have to get in and out the bed at the bottom. The cottage itself was really clean, however the bed linen smelt incredibly damp. The bathroom is ok, however it needs a new shower, it simply is not powerful enough. The garden is secure to the point you can close the gate, but you cannot lock it, which it probably needs for extra security for the dogs. Wifi isn't usually a problem for us, however with the lack of things to do, it kind of makes it an issue. The TV is ridiculously small, as is the settee. You can just about fit two people on the settee, it is not comfy at all. Nothing about this cottage is relaxing, as nothing is comfortable or an adequate size. The main problem for this cottage for us was the owner. We tried to knock the door Friday after a couple of hours in the cottage, to see what there was local we could do, but there was no answer. We ploughed through all the leaflets left in the cottage, but most of them were a couple of years old, so we had to sit on the bench in the garden (the only place you can get wifi) to check the places still existed. We had been in and out the cottage trying to find local amenities, we could not find anything. So we had to go further afield for these. Plus there is nothing around at all you have to travel to find anything. We only left the dogs at any given time for two hours in the cottage. Sunday arrived, we took our dogs a walk in the morning to the "lagoon" which was a couple of miles walk, which is by far enough for greyhounds, let alone a 9 and 11 year old! We then decided to visit Saundersfoot after this, which is a great place, with a lovely beach. We were having a really nice day, after a couple of hours, we arrived back at the cottage for some food, where we were greeted by the owner. The owner stated that she did not like the dogs left on their own, to where she admitted it was never for a long period, and she did not allow them on the furniture. Now let me tell you, there is an old settee, and an old bed! They both have throws on, and for me, if you are stating your cottage as pet friendly, but cannot leave your pets for any given time, and do not allow them to be comfortable, that is NOT PET FRIENDLY. The owner proceeded to state in detail that we could be in an accident along the lanes, with her being stuck with our dogs(very nice). She suggested we leave the dogs in the van while we are out on a very hot day, this was an incredibly stupid and ignorant thing to suggest. She then asked why we couldn't leave them outside... One our dogs are not outside dogs, and two, how can we trust their safety with a gate you cannot lock?! The last suggestion was to leave them in her shed... Which was big enough, and we had their beds, so we tried to compromise, and asked to look to see if it would be a suitable option, she then back tracked on this option stating her sons things were in there. So she left us with no option other to leave, this was meant to be our first weeks holiday away in 9 years, we left after two days, thanks to the owner. We packed up, gave the keys back and left. There is nothing to do in the cottage, and our dogs cannot walk very far being on the older side, so the very few walks which were dyer were no good for us. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE STAYING HERE WITH DOGS. THE OWNER NEEDS TO REALISE SHE IS NOT PET FRIENDLY.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; These guests have unfortunately broken their booking and terms and conditions with which states that pets are not allowed to be left on their own or on the furniture. There is a sign clearly visible on the wall which states this. The dogs were left on their own in the cottage pacing and barking, I was worried for them. I asked the guests when they returned not to leave the dogs on their own. This meant I could not go out myself and had to stay at home waiting for their return. I am pet friendly towards responsible pet owners, the cottage is a holiday let not a kennels and therefore there are certain rules that we ask guests to adhere to for the comfort of all our guests, bearing in mind not all of them will be pet owners. These guests also parked their car very strangely right in front of my workshop door, I was slightly puzzled by this as there is plenty of parking space. Responsible pet owners have enjoyed their holiday and walks by the estuary which you can easily walk to from the cottage.

Bramble Cottage is small but comfortable and well planned, and the owner made us feel very welcome. We were lucky enough to have sunny weather for our stay, perfect for relaxing in the peaceful courtyard garden. The rest of our time was spent walking in the local area with our collie. Our favourite walk led through a nature reserve to Neyland Marina, for beautiful scenery, lots of wildlife and good food at the quayside restaurant. One week was too short to explore all the paths, woods and villages in this lovely part of Pembrokeshire, so we hope to return again soon.
