Excellent modern cottage for spending a trip in. Second time staying here and just as good as the first. Great facilities (Swimming Pool, Pool Table etc) Not far from nearby golf courses and very quiet around the area.

Nice Location but lack of maintainence. Supposed to be 9 tv,s but only 6 and not all of those worked. Two dishwashers but one not working properly and dishes came out dirty. Problems with windows. Firstly in dining area if you wanted a window to stay open you had to wedge something in it. Secondly the main windows in the area were supposed to fold back but only one door opened - rest were broken. Above these doors were some window panes but the seals were long gone and water came in when it rained. In the main sitting room, the door to the terrace was very hard to open and close and the windows only open to the first notch and then jammed. We did not see the owner until the Wednesday evening and he offered to get someone in on Thursday to try to put some of the above right. We said it was pointless as we would be leaving Friday morning. The swimming pool was 'work in progress' but was useable but with no privicy.

Holiday was great but the venue was shabby (broken door handles, broken blinds/curtains, missing light bulbs, etc) with a lack of instructions. There was no ability to turn off the under floor heating, which become uncomfortable and a waste of energy. The directions to the venue were terrible and incorrect. Lack of basics to enable cleaning, washing hands, etc. Could be amazing but these small details let it down and also lead to the lower rating given above.

Stayed at Braehill for New Year week and everyone really enjoyed the place. As others have said there are quite a few things in need of maintenance, which is a shame as it is otherwise a very comfortable & entertaining house. Some positives: Kids loved the games room and pool (water was nice and warm). Relaxing rural location, close to Edinburgh and other local attractions. Spacious kitchen & dining area. Areas for improvement: Door by dining area causes drafts and needs attention. Not enough hot water/low pressure for everyone to use at the same time. Pool could do with better lighting.

This is the second time we've stayed here and I'm sure we'll be back. We don't even leave the house as there is plenty to entertain adults and kids. Love this place, has created many happy memories for my kids.
