We were delighted with our stay at Brae Cottage - very spacious and comfortable, with great access to spectacular scenery, and the city attractions of Glasgow. We appreciated being able to entertain our relatives so easily in the cottage.

We had an awesome time at the Brae cottage. Our favorite part was the conservatory. It had such a home feel and amazing views. Awesome location with a bus stop to Helensburg 2 min walk down the street. Margaret was so nice and welcoming.

Unfortunately on arrival crockery and the cutlery drawer and its contents needed cleaning before use. Grill pan covered in fat and needed cleaning prior to use. Table protector was dirty. Curtains were left on a chair. Kitchen curtains near sink looked filthy. Sand and other dirt/debris left on conservatory chairs and floor. Some door handles not working correctly. Rubbish left in one of the dressing table drawers. Mirrors hanging from picture hooks not satisfactory (in fact one fell off!) One bedroom had only one pillow per person and gave no support and no spares left in bedroom. Scruffy handwritten notes left in rooms to give information and out of date attraction leaflets dating from 2012!! In fact one attraction had moved 4 years ago and our trip was wasted!!! At the end of the day the cottage was not value for money.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We were disappointed to read your review following your recent stay at Brae Cottage. The kitchen door handle has been changed as it was found to be loose. All other handles / locks have been checked and where necessary, oiled. The 4 UPVC doors require the handles to be pushed down to close and up to lock. We will look into your comments one by one and where necessary, things will be changed. It is disappointing that you did not mention these points during your stay when I came to see you midweek.

.The cottage is cosy, well equipped and clean as a whistle. Margaret, the owner, lives nearby and couldn't have been more helpful but not intrusive. All in all' the weekend spent at Brae Cottage was memorable for all the right reasons. Couldn't complain about a thing!

We are a bit reluctant to share our experience on here because we would like to keep this little gem to ourselves. The cottage is brilliant and set in a lovely location close to shops, a pub, walks with the dog and a Chinese and Indian restaurant that does lovely meals. Everything you need to know is explained by Margaret who is a lovely lady and we would like to express our thanks...Margaret, thank you so much for your help and kindness, we will be back. It has absolutely everything you need including a lovely additional TV area at the top of the stairs on the landing which me and my grandson used. We happily sat comfortably and watched films from the large selection to choose from whilst the rest of the family were downstairs. The conservatory is massive, the dining room more than accommodated our family of 8 for Sunday lunch. The bedrooms are nice and comfortable, the main living room is the same and the garden is enclosed which was perfect to let our little dog out to play. The en-suite bedroom downstairs is a nice touch and ideal for guests. The Wi-Fi worked great with no problems. We have family who live in Cove so it is ideal for us to visit and to have them over as our guests. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you again soon. From Lynn and Ronnie - Lincolnshire

We spent a most enjoyable week in late autumn in this very warm and comfortable cottage. The owner, who lived next door, was pleasant, friendly and helpful and we felt very relaxed and "at home". The cottage was very well-equipped with everything we needed (especially the kitchen), and there was easy and adequate parking for two cars. A pleasant garden and outlook, easy access to beautiful scenery, and a regular train service to Glasgow, and Oban etc. from the nearby town. We would recommend, and would be very happy to return.
