People stopping in the cottage before us suggested 'a little TLC' wouldn't come amiss. It actually need a bit more than a 'little' TLC. There were some good things -- loads of hot water , loads of cooking utensils etc and the fire worked well (after we had been out to buy wood and coal). The beds were comfortable, too. The owner was pleasant but there was no welcome pack or the other things you tend to expect nowadays. The big let-downs were the cottage being tired and not too clean and the dreadful muddy and rutted car-damaging access. The cottage is well laid out and could be so good......

This cottage was perfect for our family "get together". The children had plenty of room to play inside without disturbing the adults too much and the farm animals were a great delight to the younger children. The design of the cottage is excellent but there needs to be a bit of a review by the owner of some of the equipment which is, in some cases, well worn. The location, while quite remote, was perfect for our needs and places such as Blackpool and Marton Mere Wetlands were within easy travelling distance. It is worth noting that the pub may well be within 1 mile as the crow flies across the fields but it would take "all day" to walk there along some narrow lanes. The photographs on the website must have been taken when the cottage was built around 10 years ago and don't really do the cottage justice. The front, en-suite bedroom is just lovely and there is now a large porch on the front. Also the photographs do not show the kitchen/dining room or lounge at their best. We had a great time there and would at some point return. Please note that all major cooking is done on a Rayburn range cooker which also is the heating supply and takes a bit of getting used to but wasn't too daunting (there is a microwave). All in all a great holiday cottage.

A great cottage and a true retreat. We went in the summer but I can fully see us returning for an Autumn or winter break, hike across the fields then hot choc in front of the fire on return.

We were impressed with the cottage and with the owner, who is simply lovely. The cottage is set in a rural countryside location, with hens, cows, pigs etc sharing the immediate vicinity. By day 3 we had got used to the mad all-day cockerel! We would just like to point out some inaccuracies in the advert; "horse riding nearby" seems to be more dressage, if you want hacking then it is the bring-your-own-horse variety, "fishing" I am not sure where that refers to, "pub within a mile" is a 40 minute hike (each way) across the muddy fields or a 3.5 mile round drive and "open fire" would benefit from some wood (available at the shop by the filling station). But overall we had a great stay, and a big THANK YOU to the owner.

Our holiday was very relaxing, just what we were looking for but was well situated for exploring the surrounding countryside. Lots to see and many enjoyable walks.
