Both the coast and historic Canterbury beckon guests staying at this cosy cottage which also has easy access to London.

Bow Cottage lies in the ancient town of Fordwich, known as the smallest town in Great Britain and is a comfortable terraced holiday cottage which has been renovated to a very good standard, retaining stone clad walls. The front-facing living room boasts a feature bow window and woodburner, and the galley-style kitchen, which has tiled floors, leads into the dining room with patio doors opening on to a well-managed, enclosed garden. This is a great location for walks, exploring and for sampling the local ales in one of the two local pubs. Explore the historic city of Canterbury with its magnificent cathedral, learn about Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales or take a boat trip on the River Stour. Cycle the Crab and Winkle Way, visit the coast at Herne Bay or spot a seal and sample the oysters at Whitstable, 12 miles. Another enjoyable experience is to go back in time and explore the castles of Dover, Deal and Walmer. Good train connections to London. Shop ¼ mile, pubs/restaurants 100 yards.

Ground floor: Living room with beams. Dining room with patio doors. Kitchen with tiled floor. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet. Steep stairs to first floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double (6ft), 1 single.

Woodburner in living room (initial fuel included). Gas central heating included (£30per week, £15 per short break October-March). Electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot on request. 32" Freesat TV. DVD. Stereo/CD. iPod dock. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Tumble dryer. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi. Small enclosed terraced garden with sitting-out area and furniture. Chiminea. Barbecue. On road parking. No smoking. NB: Pond and waterfall in garden (can be fenced off on request).

A lovely cottage in a very pleasant and pretty village. It is warm and comfortable, and an ideal base from which to explore Canterbury and east Kent. Highly recommended.

A wonderful cute, comfortable, cosy cottage - a home from home. I have no hesitation in recommending it to those looking for a small, dog friendly cottage in this area

Delightful cottage, very well fitted out, cosy and friendly. Lois is the perfect host, she left us a welcome bottle of wine, milk and flowers. There is not a lot of activity in Fordwich, but the local mini supermarket is a short walk and the George and Dragon is a great pub with good good. Ideal for dog walking in the many wooden paths from the village.

Enjoyed our stay at the charming Bow cottage, we were made very welcome by the owner who has given a lot of thought into making the cottage comfortable. Lovely village, we were mage very welcome by locals. 2 very good pubs, would highly recommend George and Dragon food was excellent also dog friendly.

Nice cottage, friendly owner, not having it's own parking was not a problem at this time of year. Although stairs were described as steep, the ones at bow cottage were at the extreme end of steep and trips at night to the ground floor bathroom were not at all easy for the aged. Significant traffic very close to front of cottage The level of equipment and furnishings was very high, and it location close to country walks and the river was good.

Nice, well equipped cottage . Fordwich is a pleasant little place though not really suited to the volume of modern traffic it gets. Despite this we were not disturbed by traffic noise when inside (including in the front living room and bedroom) and never had any problems finding somewhere to park nearby. The two nearby pubs are excellent as is access to Canterbury which can be reached on foot along the river (3 miles), by train and bus as well as by car.

Great holiday. Enjoyed the place and its vicinity a lot. Owner very friendly, uncomplicated and easy going. Parking situation not as bad as often mentioned. Neighbours can be heard (like in so many places) but are not a problem. Cottage has modern equipment, pleasant walks and excellent pubs nearby. Local shop has all you need and is only a five minute walk. We couldn't find a playground for our six-year-old boy, but there were several gorgeous spots down the river where he could play close to the water. He loved that! To sum it up, we thought our holiday was not a bargain, but money well spent: a fine cottage in a superb location. We loved it and will be back one day!
