We enjoy the cottage and location. Nice and quiet, and sufficiently comfortable for our needs. We will stay again.

After a couple of initial hiccups - no underfloor heating and noisy 'neighbours' which were sorted out by the very helpful keyholder, we had a good look around the cottage. The sofa was probably the most uncomfortable thing we have ever sat on - or tried to;one of the kitchen stools was broken; the bedroom is gloomy ( a roof light would have been a bonus if it were feasible) and there is some ambiguity with regard to the 'enclosed' back garden space which is supposed to be safe for dogs. There is a notice asking 'guests' not to use the back garden as an exercise area - this should be made clearer. There were a number of other small, niggly issues and we left a day earlier than planned.

Response on behalf of the owner. Thank you for your comments. The underfloor heating was not on due to the fact that it was a very hot week and the cottage is very warm, however it was turned on when you requested it. There is also an electric fire downstairs and a heater upstairs. The Chesterfield sofa has duck down cushions with additional scatter cushions. It is very comfortable. This is a very old building with characteristic features like beautiful wooden beams dating back to 1542 therefore the windows are small, it is a cottage. However the bedroom should not be gloomy as it consists of 2 chandeliers and 2 bed side lamps. The enclosed garden to the rear is for the exclusive use of the cottage. I could not find any evidence of any notices. The noisy neighbours, was actually the milkman delivering the milk at 5am, which he does as quietly as humanly possible. He apologises sincerely. Both kitchen stools were fully functional before the guests’ arrival; it is one of our checks when cleaning the property. I believe you arrived a night early, for which no charge was made and then decided to leave the night before their planned departure.

We have stayed here previously and had a lovely break. There are a few niggly points that need seeing to, but nothing serious. Very expensive for peak holiday times.
