Description

Visit the towering cliffs, beaches, bays and coves of this island, from this beautifully presented holiday property.

Nestling peacefully in a rural hamlet location, adjacent to a quiet country lane opposite fields, these beautifully presented holiday properties provide a wonderful retreat from which to discover the delights of the island. Situated in the grounds of a Grade II listed thatched cottage, they have been fully refurbished and stylishly furnished. They have exposed stone and beams and offer an ideal retreat for couples - perfectly located for keen walkers and cyclists. Chale village, 1½ miles, lies at the foot of St Catherines Hill, and close by there are walks along miles of Heritage coastline, beaches and country pubs. Within easy reach are St Catherines Lighthouse, pretty villages of Shorwell Brighstone, Chale and Niton and amazing rock formations of the Needles. Blackgang Chine and Yarmouth Harbour are also within easy reach as well as numerous other holiday attractions. Picturesque thatched rooftop villages such as Old Shanklin, Godshill and Brighstone serve ice cream and cream teas, and many of the seaside resorts serve freshly caught fish of the day. This temperate island has towering cliffs, beaches, bays and coves, farmlands, river valleys and steep ravines, all linked by a 500-mile network of footpaths including 68 miles of coastal walks with spectacular views which are all accessed easily. For the outdoor enthusiast, there are also golf courses, riding, mountain biking, fishing, sailing, crabbing, surfing, kite flying, hang gliding and jet skiing. Shop and pubs approximately 1½ miles.

Living/dining room/kitchen with beams, sloping pitched ceiling and exposed stonework. Double bedroom with 6ft bed (can form two singles) and en-suite jet spa contemporary shower room and toilet.

Overall thought the cottage was great and will definitely go there again. If I want to be picky, a small freezer would have been nice and I felt the shower, although top of the range, was too good for the size of the shower cubicle. We felt so comfortable and at home there and are looking forward to our next visit.

This "cottage" is part of a barn with a corrugated iron roof so noisy when it rains. While it is in a pleasant part of the island it's hard to get to and has no direct access to seaside or country walks. it is well equipped but small and we thought rather overpriced.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; The Barn is a listed building; the roof is constructed with a tiled effect metal roof which is insulated and soundproofed to conform to listed building consent, under heavy rain a slight sound can be heard. We have never had a complaint from any of our guests in the six years that we have been trading. We are a short drive from the main Coastal Road and as for walks there are two footpaths within 200 yards of Bluebell Cottage, one goes inland through the countryside the other one joins up to the Coastal footpath, there are plenty of other Countryside footpaths within a very short walk from us.

Lovely, well presented holiday cottage in peaceful, attractive surroundings. Friendly, welcoming owners. It was the perfect base from which we could explore the island.
