Description

Traditional Welsh cottage, enviable location right on the sea shore where at certain times the waves lap on the patio walls!

Blue Sails (ref JPV) is a traditional Welsh holiday cottage with its own garden enjoying a magnificent setting in an AONB, right on the seashore, with waves sometimes lapping against the patio walls, and glorious views of Puffin Island and Snowdonia. The Beach House (ref OHM) lies in a secluded setting, with direct access to the beach (via a few steps) and panoramic views across the Menai Straits to the Snowdonia mountains. This single-storey Scandinavian-style pine lodge is set to the right of Blue Sails. It has a large garden and visitors may enjoy sightings of many species of seabirds, porpoises and even the occasional seal. Beaumaris (2 miles), a World Heritage Site, is Anglesey’s most attractive town; it has a castle, boat trips to Puffin Island, water sports facilities, shops, restaurants and an excellent inn, Ye Olde Bull’s Head (Good Food Guide and Egon Ronay’s Guide) is only yards from Beaumaris Castle. Bangor 8 miles. Shop 1½ miles.

Steep steps to entrance. Spacious and comfortable living room with exposed beams and double French doors to patio with low wall overlooking the sea. Dining room with door to the garden and the beach. Kitchen. Small bunk bedroom. First floor: Twin bedroom. Small double bedroom with wash basin. Bathroom with bidet and toilet. Outside there is also an extra toilet with wash basin.

We had a relaxing time at Blue Sails. The location is superb and the views breathtaking. Listening to the waves lap against the shore just feet away is gloriously soothing. The cottage is absolutely wonderful with a great shabby chic interior. The owner has thought of all the little things that make a great holiday, lots of personal touches. Only negative is lack of wifi.

Blue Sails is my most favourite place on this planet - its idyllic and has the perfect location, hence us visiting about 10 times now. The view is spectacular, there is certainly something magical about it - highly recommended!

Could this cottage be updated? Yes but why ruin its charm? Could it have been cleaner? Yes, the glasses and cutlery had to go through the dishwasher before we used them. HOWEVER, the above doesn’t matter one bit when you step towards the front and see that AMAZING view. The setting is perfect, so what if the cutlery and kitchen essentials had to be washed before you used them, so what if the beds aren’t the comfiest, so what if the shower isn’t powerful, just look at the view! We spent 4 glorious nights here and I would return tomorrow if I could. It’s simply perfect. Fully working kitchen, towels supplied, washing machine if you need it, not luxurious but quaint, functional and cosy (especially when you’ve lit the fire). Don’t hesitate, just go, you won’t be disappointed

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your kind comments. We would certainly not expect you to have to put the cutlery in the dish washer on arrival and indeed guests are usually very good about leaving the house and its contents as they found it. We have looked in to this and discovered that there was insufficient salt and rinse aid in the dishwasher, so it was not doing a proper job. This has now been rectified and is working well. We do replace all fittings, including mattresses, on a regular basis and will check whether any should be replaced to ensure the best possible night's sleep for our guests. We have undertaken a great deal of refurbishment over the last few years and have tried hard to do this without compromising the special character of a traditional Welsh seaside cottage. We are pleased that you think this has been successful and delighted that you enjoyed your visit to Blue Sails so much.

Location is everything for this cottage . Cleanliness could be much better very dusty behind beds could do with some airfreshner . However blue sails has all kitchen facilities you need . More fresh towels would be good .

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments and for drawing attention to some dust behind the bed. The cleaners’ attention has been drawn to this and they will address it immediately on their next visit. Had you made us aware of this while you were staying at the house we would have had it dealt with there and then during your stay. Two good sized towels (including a large bath towel) are routinely provided for each guest. We are delighted that you have enjoyed the location of Blue Sails so much.
