Description

Blue Buoy cottage is a stylish and well-presented property boasting beautiful sea views which can be enjoyed from the fantastic patio.

Blue Buoy Cottage dates back to the 1800s. Set in the quaint fishing port of Brixham, it is in a great spot with fantastic sea views from every level of the four storey property, which overlooks the marina, fishing port and Torbay. You can see Torquay to your left (on a clear day you can see as far as Weymouth); to your right you can see Berry Head. There is a large patio to relax in over a glass of wine (bottle of wine and fudge provided in the welcome pack), taking in the exceptional views and the atmosphere of the fishing port. The harbour shops and restaurants are a 3-minute stroll away, or take a boat trip to Torquay and Dartmouth for a day’s fishing. A woodburner makes this property great for year-round holidays. The coastal path is easily accessed, leading to lovely beaches and coves; the popular Fishcombe Cove is at the top of the road. Brixham forms the third part of Torbay - the others being Torquay and Paignton. The bay is known as the English Riviera due to its unique micro-climate. Walkers and navigators can get escape and and explore the depths of Dartmoor, spot wild Dartmoor ponies, cross ancient stone bridges spanning the clear bubbly waters of the River Dart and other rivers. You can also feel the somewhat eerie presence of the tors, seven rocky hills presiding majestically over the moors. Take the ferry across to Dartmouth, the neighbouring town to Brixham, set on and across the River Dart. At the mouth of the river are Kingswear and Dartmouth Castles with the rocky waters of the estuary lapping at their feet. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

Lower ground floor: Dining room/kitchen with French doors. Utility room. Separate toilet. Ground floor: Living room. First floor: 2 double bedrooms. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet. Second floor: 1 twin bedroom (zip and link, can be 6ft double) with sloping ceiling.

Woodburner in living room included. Gas central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot. High chair. Four Freeview TVs. DVDs. Gas cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Internet connection. Large patio with furniture. Juliet balcony. Barbecue. Chiminea. On road parking. Welcome pack. No smoking.

Great views over the bay and fish market, close, albeit downhill all the way, to Brixham harbour and the cafés, shops and restaurants along the front. The cottage was well-appointed with sun-terrace (just a shame there wasn't a lot of sun for our week :)) We used the ferries and buses to get about across to Dartmouth, Paignton and Torquay but also walked the South-West Coastal path which give some fabulous views and scenery of the local area. The holiday was spoilt slightly by the fact that there was work going on to the properties either side of us which became intrusive at times but we were lucky enough to find a parking space very close by which meant that did not become an issue for us.

Great place to stay, bed in front bedroom abit lumpy!! Other than that would recommend it.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for recommending Blue Buoy. The beds all have mattress toppers, so can be removed if you don't find them comfortable. Thank you again for your comments - it is only through feedback such as this that we are able to continually review and improve upon our service.

Beautiful cottage. Extremely well equipped - it felt like home! Very comfortable and cosy. The location was great with superb views over the harbour. Not good for people with limited mobility as there were a lot of steps to get into town (an alternative way was still a steep hill). The cottage was very clean and well presented with very good quality fixtures, fittings and everything you could possibly need in the kitchen - crockery, cutlery, appliances and white goods. My only tiny criticism - which was a bit odd at the time - the skirtings were very dusty and grubby. Everything else, beautifully clean but the skirtings, particularly on the stairs really were dust caked and the walls to low level needed a wipe down. A five minute fix that I was itching to do but my husband kept reminding me that we were on holiday and not there to do cleaning. I'd still strongly recommend this cottage though!

Nice cottage in nice location if you want to be 'in the heart of the action' Main problem was seagulls squaring ALL.NIGHT sleep was not restful !

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; So glad you enjoyed your stay in blue buoy and the location. Seagulls make their nest and have their young between June to August and are very protective, so do make noise, as we are so close to the sea.

Home from home and really enjoyed the comfort and the views. We worried about parking but needn't have been. Buying a weekly parking permit (valid for most local parking) proved a wise choice. Close to the harbour and shops but it's on a steep hill so it will test your fitness!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thanks for your lovely comments. The parking permit is a very good idea and could save you money if you are going out and about.
