Description

Explore Agatha Christie’s summer home, Babbacombe’s model village or the award-winning Paignton Zoo, which are all close by to Dandelion Cottage.

These attractive holiday barn conversions are tucked away in the quiet hamlet of Blagdon and situated just under 2 miles to the nearest beach, ideally located for a family holiday, not just in the summer but all year round. The properties have been renovated to a very good standard, with shared use of a sauna and an outdoor heated swimming pool. Blagdon House Country Cottages (ref 28149, 28150, 28151, 28152 and UKC184) can be booked together to accommodate up to 28 guests. Cherry Cottage (ref UKC184), the latest addition to the Blagdon House Country Cottages collection, stands out as a particularly special holiday accommodation. With a woodburner and a downstairs twin bedroom with a wet room close by, this semi-detached property is ideal whatever the weather, and also offers great ground floor facilities.

There are many tourist attractions in the vicinity including Agatha Christie’s summer home, Babbacombe Model Village, and the award-winning Paignton Zoo. The Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway runs along the coast to Kingswear, opposite Dartmouth. Take a ferry across to visit Dartmouth with its array of shops and restaurants, take a walk around the castle and enjoy one of the tea shops for a Devon cream tea. Away from the coast there are plenty of places to visit, including the picturesque town of Totnes with some fine 16th-century buildings, and once a week there is a popular market. No trip would be complete without a visit to Dartmoor to climb one of the Tors or just take in the beauty and travel across the moor to Tavistock, where you can enjoy some dramatic scenery. There are many NT properties and plenty of swimming, sailing and angling. Torquay has a lot to offer, such as the Living Coasts, where the penguins wander freely, and the theatre which has shows all year round. Visit the yachting marina and a selection of fine gardens, in addition to Kent’s Cavern where the remains of some of Britain’s very earliest inhabitants were found. Discover the castles, abbeys, wildlife parks, steam trains and model railways, all within easy reach with many open throughout the year. Stoke Gabriel is only 3 miles away, located on the River Dart, whilst Dartingtion is nearby, known for its crystal. Beach 2 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

We booked to stay here in order to see family , so being in the outskirts of Paignton this cottage was ideal. Very close to beaches and the zoo if you fancy going. The property is very clean and tidy and provides all the facilities needed, the ONLY down side is the cottage is on the side of the property where there is not much sunlight. But the other side of the property seemed filled with sunlight so don't let this put you off. Wonderful welcome with a cream tea all ready to go , and freshly baked bread - made all the difference after our journey!

Lovely cottage well equipped. The owners are nice people to deal with and very helpful. The swimming pool is great and well kept. Some of the cooking utensils could be better quality as they are a bit flimsy. A nice touch was the Scones and cream on arrival along with milk of tea.
