We enjoyed our second stay at The Stables and would re-book in the future. Cleaner is very helpful during this time and prior to arriving with answering our questions.

The Stable is the perfect location for large family gatherings. We've stayed at the Stable twice and before that we've stayed at The Mill House, so we are more than happy with the properties on offer. The location is perfect for the park and ride car park a short drive from the property which takes you directly into York. The property itself benefits from the swimming pool which is shared between the barns and works perfectly to create the best entertainment for both children & adults too! Would highly recommend!

I have given a lower score than I would have liked to for comfort and Equipment because some of the beds are probably needing renewing. The fridge has a shelf broken and is really not big enough for that size of accommodation. I personally think some furniture was not required and in the way at times and that in other cases it was lacking. I read a review that said it would be better to make the room that had the double and single into a room with bunk beds. I fully agree with this. We had 10 people and 1 family had 2 boys and the other 1 daughter. The space in the room with bunk beds was quite tight. Saying all that we managed. The room with 2 beds was occupied by our single son and he would have had one of the boys in with him but they wanted to be with their parents. The swimming pool was great especially for a family of swimmers as we are. I was concerned about the timetable but was very impressed at how well it worked. All in all a very good week. The only other change that could be made to the layout would be to have a door into the garden area. We BBQ a lot and had to pass things through the window to save carrying it round.

We very much liked the space that was provided and one level living suited us. There was ample space for cars. We were disappointed that the kitchen lacked storage space for things that did not need a fridge…cereals, jams, vegetables for up to nine adults on occasions. We were only six most of the time and had to use half the dining room table to store food stuff. Had we needed that table to dine I do not know what we could have done. There was an enormous freezer which was surplus to our requirements and the fridge door had a shelf missing and was really too small. The washing up bowl it had a hole which meant it leaked and soaked our tea and coffee packets on the counter. I do not think the vacuum cleaner enhanced the sitting room, which we found poorly lit for reading. Some colourful cushions would have improved the appearance of the room and provided extra comfort. There was nowhere to play cards or do the wet holiday jig-saw. Fortunately we had goodish weather. The bedrooms were all of a reasonable size and bathrooms more than adequate. However all the bedside lights were small and one needed the room lights at night to read easily. On the good side, the heating was efficient and although we were not allowed access to the timers we were able to adjust by turning radiators on and off. The hot water supply was a good feature.
