The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway offers a relaxing ride through the stunning moorland and forest of Heartbeat country, leading to the Heritage coastline where abbey ruins stand high above the bustling harbour at Whitby, Smugglers’ Coves can be found in Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay. The 18th-century house at Castle Howard, NT Beningbrough Hall with its National Portrait Gallery and the World Heritage site of Fountains Abbey, provide excellent days out. Wonderful Location. The place was fine. Would of stayed again had it not been for the cleaning company accusing us of damage to the place which we did not do. The wifi was poor, the kitchen had a lingering smell to it. Size and location were lovely having a swimming pool on site was a bonus. Renter beware, please check the place and take photos of anything you may be accused of damaging by the cleaning company. Spoilt the break.

The holiday was for a school residential for students aged 16-19 with special educational needs. The accommodation was large and airy. The facilities and equipment were good e.g. comfortable beds, working appliances and every kitchen utensil you could think of. All the bedding and towels were clean. The cleanliness of cottage could have been better (dusty) and we did have a 'visitor' (mouse) however, the cleaning company responsible for the cottages were very helpful and attended to the issue effectively. The location was very quiet and peaceful and the grounds were very well kept. The addition of a pool certainly went down well with our students but we did miss sufficient showering facilities within the pool area. We were out and about every day so didn't spend much time at the cottage. It's location is approx. 20 minutes from the nearest supermarket. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cottages to others.
