not very child friendly, no stair gates, no cot and no pots etc suitable for young children. driveway shared with owner who lived above garage and had a small dog who left us a small package by the front door and i had to move it so nobody walked in it!!!! had to keep doors closed as told chickens/cats would wander in on arrival we were "lectured" with rules and to make sure to separate rubbish as bins fill up quick(were already half full), we did this but on second day owner just filled the bin with their waste and didn't seem to bother about recycling.

Great potential, sadly not fulfilled. Good points: large garden, large kitchen, games room, Sky movies, en suite rooms. Bad points: No WiFI, remote location, worn furniture, not enough keys to access gate, people wondering into house from campsite next door.

Cottage was mostly fine. Good size and good accommodation for the 10 people in our party. There was one power cut just after we arrived but this was sorted very quickly. There was one issue with the dishwasher tripping the fuse which made us wonder whether the electrics were up to scratch. The key holder/fixer/handyman was very helpful and mostly there whenever we needed him. The garden was brilliant for the children. Enclosed and safe. The climbing frame and swings were really handy and well used. On the down side the washing machine didn't work well. The large dining table was far too high and we had to build up the chairs with cushions for even the adults to sit comfortably and eat. It was very difficult for the children to eat at the table and there was no other appropriate table for them to eat at. One of the children fell off the chair mid meal ,not because he was wriggling but because the cushions slipped..... It was also too wide. Impossible to pass one thing from one side to another. The sofas in the lounge although very luxurious leather were too deep and difficult to be seated in comfortably. On the whole it was spacious and comfortable. The bedrooms and ensuite facilities, although varying in degrees of luxury, were fine. It would have been more convenient if there had been a cot provided to avoid us having to bring a travel cot.

Great house, well equipped. Room size fantastic. Plenty of space. Good sized enclosed garden, plenty of crockery, cutlery, pans etc. great for children. A bit off the beaten track, but a pleasant secluded location. This was our second visit to Birchwood as it ticks all the boxes for us. Only criticism is that the table has been changed since our first visit and it is not very stable.

House far too cold! Asked for the heating to be turned up to no avail! Downstairs really cold and not comfortable at all! Having to sit in jumpers is no holiday! Very disappointed and would not recommend to anybody in the winter months

The house was lovely, though when we arrived on 21st Dec the house was very cold and the heating wasn't working properly, I was so glad we'd taken a couple of blow heaters!! Also the cold taps upstairs were running hot so it was impossible to use the shower in one bedroom because it was too hot also the shower room downstairs flooded during every use, perhaps a shower screen would help!! Having said this if these problems are sorted out the house is perfect and we all had a lovely Christmas!!
