A beautiful garden with an outstanding Bar-B-Q house, very comfortable. The look of the main living and dining area is wonderful it is a pity there were only 5 dining chairs for the expected 6 occupants. We spent many hours discussing what the property was used for in its previous existence. The kitchen is small and not up to UK standards. There was an awful lot of excess equipment in terms of champaign glasses, but no wine glasses, lots of water jugs but no sharp knives and only 4 mugs and a lack of cooking pots. However most cupboards were full of enough 'things' to equip a very large antique shop. The main bedroom is OK but the others lack hanging and drawer space and have very limited bedside furniture. The are small and scruffy. The study is nice but we could not find a use for it. The cupboards are full, but one contained some board games. We would not recommend this cottage for anyone with mobility problems, there are too many difficult steps to bathrooms and the BBQ house is on top of a fairly steep hill. The bathroom nearest the front door is modern and the other bathroom has a more than interesting decorative theme, however the shower is rather 'Heath Robinson' in approach. We spent a couple of days without hot water before we could contact the owner, we did though appreciate the nice bottles of red that accompanied both his welcome and the apology. We were disappointed to be asked to pay 45 Euros for a cleaner when the only cleaning apparatus existing in the cottage was a broom. When we explained we would clean ourselves our host supplied a vacuum cleaner and a mop and bucket. We firmly believe the 90 minutes cleaning left the place a great deal cleaner than when we arrived. The location is good, although there is a lack of information about the area in the cottage, there was also a lack of information about any equipment in the cottage. Why would we not return to this cottage, we did not feel that our host had any concerns for us as visitors, we were just part of his business and he lacked any desire for customer satisfaction. We believe that when we next visit this beautiful part of France we can do better than St Ave.
