Description

Sleeping four guests, Lemon Tree Cottage is perfect for families or couples. Situated in Torquay, there are beautiful walks to enjoy.

Steeped in history, Ben Venue is an imposing listed Victorian house built in 1890, once owned by the brother of A.R Johnson wax polish empire of America. Ben Venue (ref HKKB) is attached to Lemon Tree Cottage (ref HMMS) and the owner’s apartment. In Ben Venue (ref HKKB), many original features are still evident, with a very grand staircase, and large chandeliers throughout as well as high ceilings which add to the charm and character of this most beautiful property. It is decorated and furnished to a very high standard, from the piano in the entrance to the four-poster beds, the large bathroom and en-suite shower rooms. There have been many famous celebrities who have visited the property over the years and enjoyed many a game of snooker on the full size snooker table - see all the photos adorning the walls including Ray Reardon, Max Bygraves and Bobby Davro to name but a few. All of the rooms have elegance about them; there are huge picture windows, and sea views from the ground and first floors. Lemon Tree Cottage (ref HMMS) has its own entrance and is also decorated to a high standard from Italian marble floors to beautiful furnishings. Torquay has so much to offer and these are the perfect properties for family get-togethers, friends reunited and celebrations.
There are 22 miles of coastline, cliffs, coves, beaches and walks, with opportunities for surfing, swimming, diving, sailing, angling and to study the natural wildlife at leisure. Stunning views are to be seen just about everywhere across the bay, out over the English Channel, along the 40 miles of Lyme Bay to Portland Bill or inland towards the tors of Dartmoor. Torquay is an ideal base from which to visit Dartmouth, Totnes, Exeter and Plymouth. It is a place to relax, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a holiday in a classic English seaside resort. A brilliant place to be. It's up on a hill, but with a car, it's no problem. Very close to tourist places. The kitchen is spacious enough to do some serious cooking with fresh produce and seafood from the fish market at Brixham. Also accessible to local restaurants. Excellent value for money, highly recommended and will return.

We really enjoyed our stay, luckily the weather behaved itself. It is an excellent property, well equipped and the owner was helpfulness itself. There were a couple of small problems which were very quickly rectified. The only criticism I would make is that the property had obviously been well used during the summer and the carpets needed a clean.

A beautiful cottage decorated to a very high standard with lots of room. 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen. The owner met us on arrival and showed us around and answered any questions we had about local amenities etc and was very helpful. We had a very enjoyable stay and would highly recommend.

Lovely cottage in a popular area of Devon. The owner, a very pleasant lady, met us when we arrived . Plenty of attractions around including Brixham and Dartmouth.

Cottage was elegantly decorated and with a large, bright lounge. Kitchen spacious but poorly equipped - for example toaster and frying pans had seen better days. Situated at the end of a cul-de-sac, cottage was very quiet with no passing traffic. Unfortunately, cottage had not been vacuumed on arrival nor kitchen surfaces and cupboard doors cleaned. Once we had cleaned it was a lovely place to stay.

I hired both lemon tree cottage and Ben Venue for a family celebration. The properties were beautiful and comfortable. We had a wonderful time and have lovely memories. Thankyou to the proprietor Kay for making our stay memorable.
