Well appointed, tastefully decorated, wonderful views over the Fowey estuary, rabbit playing outside window. Bottle of milk and bottle of wine in fridge on arrival, bag of ice cubes in the freezer - what more could you want?

We had a lovely week at Bellscat Barn and would definitely return! Positives + The views were absolutely incredible - I am missing them already :( + It was a good base location to a number of places - we visited Fowey, Truro, Padstow, Jamaica Inn, Eden Project to name a few + The cottage itself was lovely! And the hosts left us some milk and wine in the fridge for arrival which was a nice gesture Negatives - The property is off the beaten track (which is not a bad thing!) but the drive down to the cottage from the main road, about 0.5 miles, is very very potholed! - The water works in the property were very loud - especially the main bathroom and kitchen tap - not a major thing but something to be aware of especially with little ones sleeping! To be aware of - Technology at the property is dated in terms of the TV and phone signal is not great - there was no wifi access (at least I don't think there was!) Personally this suited us fine as we wanted a get away but this may be important to some. As it is off the beaten track it is a car journey to reach any amenities for groceries - we weren't bothered by this but something to note!

Recently returned from a wonderfully relaxing week at the spacious Bellscat Barn. The views from all lounge windows and bedrooms are stunning. Location is so peaceful and there are lots of days out and National Trust houses and gardens to enjoy in the locality. Owner very helpful and kindly left us wine and milk, and gave helpful tips on local area.

Bellscat barn is very homely and comfortable. Comfy beds, great shower and large extremely well equipped kitchen. Superb views from the barn looking out over a field and down on to the Fowey river. Perfect location for a base for touring the area with lots of great places to eat quite near to hand. There is quite a long bumpy drive from the main road to the barn but the slight inconvenience of this if offset by the sheer beauty of the surroundings and the lovely accommodation. Carol the owner is a lovely lady who has taken great pride and care in the presentation of this holiday home and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and quite get away.

We have stayed at this cottage before and enjoyed it immensely apart from the long undeveloped farm track. However this time we were very disappointed there were cobwebs nearly everywhere, crumbs down side of chair cushions and dead flies on many of the window sills and the kitchen sink needs updating as it is badly stained,so too is the plastic kettle in the kitchen. The bed was very comfy and the views exceptional. We will definitely NOT be returning again. How often do you go and revisit properties to make sure that they are kept to a high standard based on the price you charge.? The grab bar in the shower cubicle was not fixed to the tiling very well as my wife put her hand onto to assist her in the shower and it fell to the base of the shower.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments, we value customer feedback. We are disappointed to hear you did not thoroughly enjoy your stay with us. Bellscat Barn is rural and therefore there is a country lane up to the property, this is tarmacked. Here at Bellscat Barn, we do have a caretaker and myself present on change over days ensuring all aspects of the property are at a continuing high standard, we pride ourselves on our cleanliness. The Sink is bleached on a regular basis to ensure they are as clean as possible at all times. Due to wear and tear the Kettle is always renewed when necessary and since your stay we have a new Kettle in the property. We hope to see you again.

One of the best holiday cottages we've ever had. Lots to do and see in the area. However the kilometre long lane to the cottage was quite a problem - fortunately no damage. Also the walk to the 'nearby' pub and restaurant were not for the faint-hearted!

Absolutely breathtaking views from every window of this beautiful barn/cottage. Extensively fitted kitchen. Very pleasant host. Comfortable beds and sofas in lounge. Rather remote, which suited us. Local amenities: pub. If I wanted to find fault, the cistern in the bathroom sounded like a jet taking off. The half mile drive from the road is rather bumpy and needs a bit of care, and the mile or so of twisty country lane preceding it is only wide enough for one and a half cars and also needs to be taken carefully. Providing you don't find yourself short of milk or other essentials, the lack of shops is no problem, otherwise the nearest shop/garage that I found was four miles away. It might not suit all but I would definitely book again if going for a Cornish holiday.
